"Preparation for next season starts right now," Mike Anderson at press conference to wrap up the season

"There was improvement in our basketball team, the newcomers picked up on what we wanted to do." Mike Anderson

"I thought our defense was better this year than it was last year, but we didn't do that all the time," Mike Anderson

"On the floor we are going to be a team that plays hard, next step is to hold serve at home. Next is to take it on the road," -Mike Anderson

"Will sit down with every player after the final four and see where we are, but the off season is going to be real critical," Mike Anderson

Anderson: Bobby Portis gives us not only size, but size that can play. Moses Kingsley is a guy that can rebound and block shots.

Anderson: When it comes to scholarships and recruiting, it will all work itself out.

We could always be Harvard:

Anderson: Right now BJ and Marshawn are on spring break and then I will have an opportunity to talk with them about their future.

Coach Anderson: Ideal situation is you would have somebody take charge at point guard next season - whether he be on campus now or not.

Anderson: This is where we need to see guys step into roles. Notes he expects Dee Wagner to take a step forward next season.

Coach Anderson on not getting NIT berth: I was disappointed. I thought our guys were more than worthy and would have liked to have played.

Coach Anderson - on road you got to have toughness and a player that can pull his teammates together.

Coach Anderson: Ky Madden is 6-6 and can do a lot of things - had 7 defensive RBs against Vandy - grew up that game. Should step forward.

Anderson on Alandise Harris: He came in and would push and shove Marshawn and made him work. He defends, he's tough, he can shoot.

Alandise Harris would have helped this year with his level of toughness per Anderson. It's mental toughness that was needed this season.

Coach Anderson - We played one of tougher schedules that has been played here in awhile. We just came up short in some of those games.

My wife just asked if she could change her brackets for the rest of the tournament.

Dale will allow it.

Coach Anderson - our schedule next season which will include Maui Invitational - will be in competitive.

Coach Anderson: No Arkansas player has come to him and said he is planning on leaving the program.

Coach Anderson: We are going to talk with Hunter about what weight it would be best for him to play at next season.

Anderson: When Hunter plays with passion, he is a very good player. When he plays passive, he is not.

Coach Anderson - Anthlon Bell can be a great force on offense, but he can't be the weak link on defense and has to become better there.

Coach Anderson: The style of play we want to play is a winning style.

Coach Anderson - we are going to have more pieces next season - and we may add one or two more. But we have to have better guard play.

Mardracus Wade ?@WadeNoDwyane 12h
Followers want to know something funny, I was this ??close to signing with New Mexico Lobos my freshman year in high school

For those who like to say Mike was out recruited by Pel for Wade and Scott or both were "his guys" on other boards...

Well signing freshman HS players certainly seems like a recruiting violation.

There is so much that can be taken from that, but I'm trying to not bash our players.

I think by sign he meant commit.

New Mexico would have been a good choice, they certainly could have used him yesterday.

I think Wade will rebound big next year myself.

We won't see 50% from 3 ever again, that is just crazy, but we won't see 28% or whatever it was this year either, I think he'll be at about 40-43% which is good, when you combine it with the best hands on the team defensively.

Wade seems like a smart player too, he doesn't really take bad shots, and doesn't turn the ball over, or drive out of control, plays sound fundamental, active defense with quick feet.

Harris tweeted he is going to play the 3 and 4 both next year.

I'd love to see a lineup of

F - Portis
F - Powell
F - Clarke
G - Wade
G - Madden

With Kingsley, Harris, Qualls as a rotation with Mickelson. That is some SERIOUS talent, depth, and size at the forward position, especially if Jamal Jones is on the floor as a 6'8" guard. Jesus.
