This is no different than those fricks in the office giving us an "official apology" after '99 tech or '09 lsu.
Yeah, thanks for the half arse apology guys. Too bad it doesn't change what happened on the field..

Sad.
As if defensive players haven't been screwed over enough. They're right, Dial should have just went for Murrays knees and ended his career. EVERY QB out there knows to keep your head on a swivel during an interception, and if you don't want to take the chance then DONT go towards the ball.
We're currently watching football dynamically, and fundamentally change for the worse.
Murrays name being attached to a pussy rule? Shocker.

If that had happened to McCarron instead of Murray, all of Alabama would have driven their houses to the SEC office in protest. Don't wanna hear that line of bullshite. It was a blatant cheap shot

While I agree that Murray was NOT a defenseless player there is no way that wouldn't warrant a 15 yard penalty for unnecessary roughness. I mean Dial had 100 pound and 5-6 inches height advantage over Murray. He should've been able to just swat Murray away but he ended up with the crown of his helmet on Murray's chinstrap.

Still livid over that call.

Yeah, unfortunate that it didn't. The hit was dirty and the play was virtually over.
Oddly enough, they call Murray a pussy for taking the hit despite the fact that the SEC coordinator of officials said it SHOULD have been called and he played the rest of the game. What a pussy.

What if he didn't "swat" Murray hard enough, and Murray ended up pushing the ball carrier out of bounds saving a pick six?
This is football we're talking about here, not tennis. Every player that straps on a helmet knows there's an inherent risk of taking a hit like that. As I mentioned before, every QB out there knows that if you throw a pic you need to keep your head on a swivel, and if you dont want to take that chance then don't even pretend to make a tackle. That's just football 101.

I get that sentiment, but it doesn't change the fact that SEC officials came back after the game and said it should've been called. I mean, that only happens when it's something pretty flagrant. They don't do that for every little missed call.

Well it won't be just hitting QB's that suspensions will be levied against...
• A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass. (No free shots on the quarterback).
• A receiver attempting to catch a pass, or one who has just caught a pass and has not had time to protect himself. (No clothesline or head shots to receivers over the middle).
• A kick returner attempting to catch or recover a kick.
• A player on the ground.
• A player obviously out of the play.
But they have also made additions to the list of who qualifies as a defenseless player:
• A player who receives a blind-side block.
• A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent whose forward progress has been stopped.
• A player on the ground.
• A kicker in the act of kicking or just after the kick.
• A quarterback any time after a change of possession.

Come on seriously? Murray was casually jogging towards the ball carrier. He was in no position or hurry to try to bring down the ball carrier that was already getting swarmed by Georgia players.

You can't tackle a guy that doesn't have the ball which is why it doesn't make sense that Dial's head was that low on the block.
But as I said Murray wasn't a defenseless player and should've kept his head on a swivel. However, you can't deny that that play should've drawn a flag based on the block.

The outcry for player safety is at an all-time high, and the refs are in the spotlight. UGA alumni(Barhart, etc.), coaches, and supporters made their voices heard. In the interest of appearing "pro player safety" the refs made that statement.
I would be making the exact same statements if Tree laid out AJ. That's just fotball.

Yes, seriously. What if Milliner happened to pull out something crazy(which I've seen him do), and he's tight roping the sideline and Murray being the last man pushes him out. Dial thought didn't "swat" hard enough/missed, and we miss out on a TD.
Besides, it goes against what football is. I hate to use and already overused Saban saying, but "you go out there, dominate the guy you're playing against, and make his arse quit!"
Football is violent, that's just how it is.

I can. The second murray threw the pick he immediately became a potential tackler.
Don't worry, we'll eventually get to the day where there's no blocking by leading with the helmet, you'll have to lead with your hands.
ETA: What would have been "dirty" is if Dial went for Murrays knees.

That's just football?
Look, I realize you never got to play football, so you project yourself into some pathological mind frame that makes you think that since you watch football and follow your favorite ball club so ardently that you put yourself on the same level as those who play for said ball club... It is this mind trick that lead you to the point where you somehow felt that you are enough of an authority to lecture us on what football really is all about.
Tell us, based on your experience and knowledge how that play was "just football"...

Look fellas, this isnt a Dial vs. Murray issue, or mainly a UA vs UGA issue. This is something that's fundamentally changing the game right before our eyes.
