Yeldon + Dee Hart/Drake/D Henry/Tennpenny/We have way too many

I bet Fowler ends up playing as H-Back. It is where he was before he got hurt last year.

Over 80 carries averaging more than 7 yards per carry, I'd say that fowler is a proven commodity

Those 80 carriers were spread over 3 seasons and that YPC is skewed by him having one big play that was averaged over 2-3 carries in the games he played.

Marshall was able to get 117 carries in one season as a true frosh and still averaged over 6 YPC. I'd say Marshall is more proven at this point.

there is no doubt if you said who has the deepest backfield it wouldn't be uga. It would be bama and lsu (bama just has good recruits so not proven but should be good). But the best duo in the country is gurley and marshall.

Best RB combo in 2013?My non-biased vote/no-homer opinion would have to be Matt Jones & Kelvin Taylor

Whew...glad you qualified your opinion with the non biased/no-homer clause...otherwise someone would get the wrong idea

Come on man....I agree that we mayhave an awesome running attack...but to start claiming tandem greatness? Kelvin Taylor may turn out to be the freaking golden child...but lets let him play a few games first....just saying.

UGA gets the pre-season nod in this category.

I cannot wait to see if Henry is then real deal. If so, look out. Yeldon will be our scat back :)

Yeah. I knew how this thread would turn out when I opened this post. And this is the reason why the SEC Rant sucks arse now.

And it's Gurley/Marshall, and everyone in this fricking thread knows it too.

Hill is better than Blue imo. GA, LSU, FLa. YELDON is great but we don't know how well Fowler will perform. Henry passes the eye test but can he take sec punishment and hold on to the football. Our OL has to outperform their experience or this could be a long season.

Anyway, Gurshall is the top combo if it's really even a question, followed by Hill/Blue. Yeldon/his backup will probably be third by the time the season is over. I think we could see Fowler/Henry sharing carries behind Yeldon. So something like Yeldon averaging 13 or 14 per game, and Fowler/Henry both average like 7.

Oh OK so no concern at all about replacing 3/5 OL including an outlandish trophy winner, best OG in cfb and on of the best RT. Thanks for the lesson.

Did Alabamas second running back, fowler or Henry or whoever, play at all last year? Serious question bc I don't know. Yeldon is legit and reminds me a lot of Blue but I don't remember anyone other than lacy and yeldon touching the ball last year for bama

Sure there is concern, but it sure as hell won't be a long season. The only two teams that should (this is all we have to go on right now) give us any trouble is inexperienced in their front sevens in the same year our OL is inexperienced, our D could be close to 2011 good, we're stacked at the skill positions (though games ARE won in the trenches), oh and those two teams that pose a threat to us? Yeah, we've got a bye before both of them.

There's trying to be realistic, and then there's trying too hard to find a reason to not be overly optimistic.
