NOT set in stone by any stretch, so if he leaves don't be like "omg you're an idiot and you were wrong". A reporter on another site said he spoke with someone very close to KCP who has knowledge of KCP's thoughts and said he's "90%" leaning towards coming back.

That would be outstanding for our team next year, but still gotta find a post man. If we get even halfway competent post play we're a tourney team IMO.

Yea, probably a no.1 seed.

How in the hell do you go from a losing record against a not so great schedule to a minimum 5 seed the next year with pretty much the same talent plus 2 new backups?

Sorry, ain't seein' it.

But you continue with that opinion if it makes you happy.

A 5th seed? Probably not but we could definitely be a tourney team next season if KCP comes back

And as a Georgia basketball fan that's all I really want. We make the tourney and the season is a success.

A team that showed flashes of being really good returning everyone as well as the sec poty, we'll be a tournament team. Like WG said, if we can get decent post play, we'll be pretty damn good.

Everyone says that but I never heard his name when during the few UCLA games I watched this year

Hope he does. If we could get one more dynamic player and the rest of the bunch develop to a higher level, we might actually have a competitive team next season.

2 serviceable guards. We will still struggle in the post. Word is Parker really wants to leave UCLA, but if he were to come here he'd have to sit out a year so he wouldn't get to play with KCP.

I have no idea what we plan to do in the post. Dixon is terrible. Cannon has some offense but he's slim and defense is a liability. I hoped Donte would take it to the next level but he didn't this year, hopefully he can next year.

A starting 5 of

Mann
Gaines or KCP
KCP or Morris
Nemi
Donte

could be pretty formidable. I love the 1-4, but it all comes down to getting SOME sort of production under the basket.

I don't think having a post player will be that important. IT's not like all team have a dominant big guy. it helps, but Fox should adjust his strategy to fit his personnel.

Give me:
Mann
KCP
Gaines
Morris
Nemi

Small, but we have three guys who can drive the ball to the basket and Nemi has the capability to get creative on the post. Morris is a wild card, he has great length. I'd play zone 80% of the time and hope we could get some rebounds.

It's not that we don't have a dominant big, it's that we don't even have an average one. Last year at the 5 between Donte, Flo, Dixon, and Cannon we would be flat out giddy to get 10 combined points out of those 4 per game. That's pathetic.

Exactly, it's not that we were a mediocre post-team last year and need a stud.

We were a terrible post-team last year and need a solid Chris Daniels type post player

Take a look at some of the teams that have been cutting down the nets in March recently. 2012 UK had Davis, 2010 Duke had Plumlee brothers/Zoubek, 2009 UNC had Hansborough, 2008 Kansas had Darrell Arthur and Darnell Jackson, 2006/7 UF had Horford and Noah, 2005 UNC had Sean May, 2004 UConn had Emeka Okafor.

Other than 2011 UConn, who had Kemba Walker and the worst Final Four field of all time, yeah they have all had dominant bigs.

I'm watching Mich St dismantle Valpariso right now because Payne and Nix are killing Valpo down low and gave MSU somewhere to go when they were struggling to shoot a jumper early.

At this juncture in UGA basketball, it's not realistic to try to compare ourselves to those teams. That'd be like UK football saying "well if only we had a Todd Gurley and Aaron Murray then we'd be great".

I'm not saying we need to go out and get an Anthony Davis, because that's simply not realistic. But hell, give me a Takais Brown, Steve Thomas, Chris Daniels, Jeremy Price..SOMEONE who can actually post up, make a move in the post, catch the ball regularly, and for shite's sake be aggressive at the rim. I'm tired of seeing our big men struggle to catch the ball, dribble a few times, then softly try to put the ball in. Go up strong dammit.
