Watching Golf Channel this morning and Bubba is on Morning Drive. Charlie Riemer is a fixture on the program and is a noted Techie. Naturally the discussion eventually led to UGA vs GT in golf and who was better. Charlie went right to claiming Bobby Jones as a trump card. Bubba was having none of it, saying that UGA is dominating right now with PGA players and better college golf all together. I thought it was interesting and a good discussion as both schools are great golf schools. Anyway, here are some current notables from each schools...

Bobby Jones IS the ultimate trump card.
However, in this "what have you done for me lately" society, 2 national championships in the last few years and a slew of new players on the tour gives UGA a compelling arguement.
Don't forget Brian Harman,Ruji Ymada,Brendon Todd, and Chris Kirk on the tour as well.

Yes he is. I live in Augusta, and I can attest to his footprint in the game of golf. He really was a man ahead of his time.

Bobby Jones is a solid argument is a legendary golfer and a household name, so they have tradition. But as of now it's pretty close ad id give us the edge with having the most recent Masters winner as well as 4 other tour members.

Georgia Tech has never won an NCAA golf title. UGA has won 2.
Having Bobby Jones is great (obviously he is a legend), but Illinois had Red Grange (probably one of the top 5 all-time college football players), and Alabama has never had a player as historically heralded.
No one would argue Illinois is a better program than Alabama.
