Who do you want realistically?
Who do you think is hired?
Who do you think is hired?

Dave Paulsen from Bucknell or Danny Kaspar from SFU.

At this point Id be happy if we brought back Lebo.

I want to replace JJ first, after that we can look at replacing coaches.

Fans dont fire coaches.

someone who has coached at a large program, not a mid major weak conference. we have tried that out with the last two

Our job has a reputation of being a career killer. Barbee was considered a very good hire 3 years ago and if he only got 3 years to turn it around we would be choosing our new coach from a list of HS and JC coaches. He will get another year and then hopefully we can attract a decent lower level coach like Michael White of La Tech.

Someone like Billy G is the only type of coach that fits that requirement and would answer the phone. Pearl might listen but no way in hell our AD would risk getting into any NCAA trouble with anything other than football.

I know ya'll don't want the mid-major type guys, but I would look long and hard at Ray Harper at WKU. He is slowly but surely doing a very good job at that program.

WKU is a better program than Auburn, I'm not sure he would be interested in taking a step back this early in his career.

I know that you're only capable of posting in quips...but at this point, i think you might be right (for once).

I'd get AK, if Ole Miss gets rid of him.

Eh i think most can look at and see that it's not a failure to turn it around, it's that we went backwards in a big way and so some might not see it as untouchable like you're suggesting.

I couldn't agree more with this part.

By itself I agree but when you factor in our AD, Under Armour and basketball being a mainly urban sport I don't see us getting many takers without going way over market value.
ETA: Barbee had 3 current NBA players on his last team at UTEP. I've never been to El Paso but I can't help but to think there is something that is keeping him from being able to land at least somewhat comparable talent here.

I don't see the UA thing as that big of a hinderence. I think we blow it out of proportion becuase we have to find somewhere to point the finger. But I don't have any emperical evidence for that, just a feeling that it really can't be that bad. The AD thing, I agree. As an incoming coach you'd have to be prepared to take a job knowing that your boss won't be there next year (or at least logic dictates that he should not. However it's auburn so we could very well keep JJ forever).
I don't understand the urban sport aspect. Are you saying because auburn is itself far from being an urban hub? Because if it's about recruiting there are plenty fo places in alabama that have talented kids and atlanta is just over an hour away.

no he doesn't
he has a contract that requires we pay him until the end of it which totals 3 million. Splitting hairs i know, but that's how contracts work.

Barbee inherited a good program/roster from Doc Sadler who inherited it from BCG. Even Jason Rabedeaux had some decent success after he took over the program from Don Haskins.
What Auburn needs is a coach who took over a complete shite program, rebuilt it, then had success. This is because Auburn needs rebuilt and needs a guy who knows how to do it from the ground up and bring in the guys to do it. It doesn't matter what his record as a coach is, Crean's record at Indiana is barely over .500 and that is including this season, it is way below .500 when you take this year out.
