I know the answer is obviously no. Actually curious as to everyone's best freshmen. I feel comfortable already saying that Bregman is the best shortstop at LSU since Aaron Hill.

If Arkansas's Killian continues to pitch at a high level and locks down the Friday night starting role for them he could win it.. I don't expect that to happen though... Bregman ends up running away with it imho.

I like Laird a lot too. He has made some great plays in the OF and has some wheels

For us, Killian and Tyler Spoon have good shots.

Spoon is hitting .410 with 3 HR's and 18 RBI.

I'd say Spoon leads right now if based off stats, for hitters at least.

Laird has definitely been locked in for yall... His average is right there with Spoon's... Unfortunately for him, he's just not gonna have the slugging numbers that Bregman and Spoon will have on their resumes.

Laird is a good player but will never be in the running for freshman of the year. He can hit for average but has zero power. He does have plus plus speed so he's solid defensively with the glove due to that speed but he has a very poor arm. I love laird, but he's not really in the discussion.

either your stats are wrong or yalls website is wrong about spoons stats. you over inflated his average, yet underinflated his rbi's.

I went to the secsports website and that's what they had.

Yea, he doesn't have the power, but I love how everytime he puts the ball on the ground he has a shot to beat out the throw.
Yea, he likely won't win it, but he is my favorite freshman for us

Always go to your respective university sports website... SEC schools literally keep their baseball stats up to the minute (except for Mizzou probably) ... The second a game ends they put the new stats in and update the system.

Could be, no telling when they update.

If his avg dropped it would make sense, his 16 game hit streak was snapped Tuesday (3 walks) but he had multiple RBI's so it adds up to what you said.

Bregman actually hit into a triple play tonight. With most triple plays some luck was involved as he crushed a ball right at second base. Can laugh it off since we won though.

Spoon is hitting .388 with 22 RBIs and 3 HRs...He's slugging .537... Ridiculous
