I'm going to be in the ATL for a day next week. I'll be in the North Druid Hills area with my 13 year old. Two questions:

1). Are there any good bottle shops in that area that carry a wide variety of beers? We don't currently get Stone or Dogfish here.

2). Is there a good time killing activity for the teenager in that area (Aquarium, Coke Muesum, etc, etc)?

I haven't been to the ATL in years. TIA.

Yes, most every liquor store will have a good selection

2, those are good, maybe CNN tour, walk around piedmont park, what is the boy into?

I'd recommend Ale Yeah! which is about 5 miles away from North Druid Hills. You could go to Green's which is only around 3 miles away...but Ale Yeah is better for beer.

World of Coke & the Georgia Aquarium are fine choices but you have to drive into the city & pay for parking. Rock Climbing could keep him/her entertained. It's about 6 miles north of NDH.

Ale Yeah or Hop City for beer. Hop City has the best selection of anywhere in Atlanta by far, but it would be a bit of a drive for you.

If your 13 year old is a boy, you could always sneak him into the Cheetah.

I think they are doing tours at Turner Field now if he/she likes baseball. World of Coke is pretty cool. Aquarium is overpriced.

Plenty of good beer stores. Ale Yeah in Decatur. Green's on Ponce is a liquor store but has a good selection of beer including Stone and Dogfish Head. Hop City in West Midtown. Hop City has every single beer available in the state of Georgia. Most liquor stores will have a good selection too.

All that you listed are good. Six Flags is open starting this weekend. The Hawks should have a couple of home games. The Atlanta Fair is going on down at the Ted.

ETA: Zoo Atlanta too.

He'd love that rock climbing shite. We have to go quarterly to the one here in Bham. I'd love to take him to the Coke Muesum, but I hate downtown.

Ale Yeah! Is on the way in and I can make Green's on the way out if I have to. Any other places close?

I would be surprised if you couldn't find whatever beer you are looking for at Ale Yeah.

Hop City is the other place, but it is a little more out of your way.

It would help if he could give a list of any particular beers he would like, or if he just wants some Stone and DFH.

You should be able to find just about anything you're looking for at those two stores. Ale Yeah has a growler station as well if you want something fresh out of the tap to drink while you're here.

Thanks! Definitely looking for Stone and Dogfish. Living in Alabama, we don't have access to a lot of beers that I'd love to get, but don't know about them. Does Russian River and Bear Republic distribute there? Love some Pliny or Hop Rod Rye!

I'll let the kid decide between the rock climbing place and the Coke Museum.

What's a good local place to eat around there? Nice local lunch place would be cool.

If you drop by Ale Yeah to pick up your beer, just go into Decatur and hit up Farm Burger or Taqueria Del Sol.

Russian River doesn't distribute anywhere in the south. Bear Republic doesn't distribute in most of the south.

You can get a lot of excellent beer here though.

Coke Museum is pretty cool. You get to sample soda from all over the world.

Decatur has some really great restaurants. You can't go wrong with most things there that aren't chain restaurants. Almost anything down in the Square.

I'll second Taqueria.

Not a fan of Farm Burger.
