Well you just put the jinx on us...it was going to be 70-0

I imagine if we played UNC in basketball they would beat us by the same score.

UNC should probably stock up on lube before that game. At least this year they would have had Giovanni Bernard, but next year, they're totally hopeless

You willing to bet the house on that score?

Did you bet the house on #WeBelieve?

We always have a rough 1st game regardless of opponent but any win over the powder blues and I'm happy.

Apparently it was just moved to Thursday the 29th. That'll dampen our home field advantage.
You can bring up that Thursday game vs. Ole Miss all you want...but typically Thursday games kinda bring down the atmosphere in my opinion.

Or the '07 UK game.
Or the '06 AU game.
I think SC fans have taken pride in Thursday night home games being our calling card.

Yep
I'll edit the OP.
And with a 53 point blowout of a decent ACC team, our stock will rise swiftly.

quote:I agree with this. It'll be exciting no matter what and guarantees a night game. Smart by ESPN and good for us because we get exposure as one of the only (if not only) games on that day instead of being buried on Saturday. Everyone will be watching us because they'll be excited to have football back.

This was announced in October https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2012/10/16/3512776/south-carolina-unc-2013-football-schedule

I'm good with the Thursday game, it fits into the season and exposure goals well.
I don't know about a 53 point blowout though, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us win by 3 scores.

On the 31st USC's official website changed it to Saturday:
Gamecocksonline.com
quote:
The Gamecocks will open the 2013 schedule against North Carolina on Saturday, August 31, at Williams-Brice Stadium. That contest will mark the Tar Heels first trip to Columbia since 1990. The teams have met 55 times over the years, most recently in 2007 with South Carolina posting a 21-15 win in Chapel Hill.
I'm OK with the Thursday night game, as I was when it was first thought to be the day for it. As have been posted above, we have done just fine with our season-opening home games as well as home games on Thursday nights. Many of them have been among the rowdiest games we have had in recent memories, as long as the games have special significance, and I suspect a home game versus the hated Tarheels will fall in that classification...
The plus to this is that it will give our coaching staff a few extra days to study UGA and gameplan for that game, as well as make sure our team is totally focused on the game in Sanford....
