Most are saying that he was arrested for reporting a false crime and was later released on $1000 bail.

From Emerson's story in the Macon Telegraph:
quote:
"It was determined that he had not had his books stolen, that he basically sold them back to one of the local book-buyback companies himself," Williamson said. "At that point in time we obtained a warrant for filing a false police report, and made the athletic association aware. For whatever reason we understand he was filing the police report to somehow meet a requirement for him not having his books with the athletic association."

Unbelievable, a college kid trying to make a quick buck where ever he can. This HAS to be first in the history of mankind attending a degree granting institution of higher learning. FLOG this MAN! *sarcasm font*

Stupid move by the kid. Make him pay the athletic association for the ACV of the book and run his arse off one practice. No biggie. Let the shite go Athens PD. Stop fricking with the football players.

fricking Jimmy Williamson....
quote:
“As long as I’ve ever worked for the University of Georgia police, if somebody files a report of any crime and we designate resources to look into it and we conclude that these people knowingly falsely filed a report then we’ll prosecute, we’ll take out a warrant for filing a false report,” Williamson said.

Bama got probation for sanctioning the book scam...
The book scam has gone on at many schools for a long time. The thing here that does not fit is the police report. I assume it is a newish policy that if you say they are stolen, you have to report them stolen or come out of pocket ...
...and this in no way would happen at Bama... Not hating, just stating...

Athens PD have a huge hardon for UGA football players. They go out of their way to find shite on these kids and make it as public as possible.

Wow, resulting in straight up mis info, and different situations. Jesus.
UA self reported the violations after they discovered the books were being sold. I would know considering I purchased a text book from a from a former player. It was a simple as sitting next to him in a CS lab and talking about what class we were taking next semester. I asked him about one class, he said he took it last semester and would sell me the book. That's it., and that's more or less what happened with the others.
It's all a moot point because these are two different situations. this guy committed a crime, and that crime is always prosecuted because its a complete waste of police man hours and paper work. While they could be working on real crimes, theyre now Investing time in something that didnt happen. I've known of people that have been charged with it. Sorry, but it would have happened in T town. That really pisses cops off.
Look man, just chalk it up to the guy being a dumbass, and don't just start spewing lies and misinformation to justify it. Good lord.

Listen frickface, I am glad you let a player go anal on you for a book, but it was institutional and it is and was the book scam that goes on everywhere. Bama let it go until someone got wind of it. The difference between the guy who sold you the book and the UGA guy is that the guy who sold you his book did not have to report it stolen or pay for it. If he did have to pay for it, there was no reason to run the scam. The book you purchased was actually the property of the AA and for all intents and purposes was stolen property. Per your scholarship rules, you need to return the book back to the AA at the end of the Semester. If a player sold you a book, they clearly did not have accountability in place to return it. Just because Bama self reported it, does not mean it was not a long running institutional issue.... It was... Trust me...
Now, tell me that if a Bama payer reports his books stolen, assuming that is their AD policy after losing/selling books, will the Bama and Tuscaloosa PD spend the resources to track said texts down at the local used book stores?
.... And would they make an arrest?
Tell us honestly...
...and do not try to play like you know more about how this works or how it went down... I assure you I am highly familiar with this deal....

Look man, you stated that "UA received probation for sanctioning the textbook scandal" which is completely false. I was just calling you out for it. That's all, don't get so mad and defensive. I guess you thought no one else knew the details about it?
Either way, it's all a moot point because the two situations are different. Your player committed a crime, a legit one, and it most definitely would have been charged in T town. Next time you get the opportunity to speak to a LEO ask them how they feel about falsely reporting a crime. It pisses them off.
We just had our first arrest in two years, and it sucks, but you dont see me saying "well ugas Ogletree robbed someone at gunpoint for their scooter helmet while smokin a huge blunt, soooo". It just annoys me when people try to make excuses for things, even more when they lie to make their point. That's all man, have a good day!
