Games like tonight were guaranteed losses because we would leave some guy wide open under the basket for the slam at the buzzer.

I don't miss those days

As I stated in the game thread, no way we win tonight under Heath or Pel. Better days are ahead.

Matt Jones ?@NWAMatt
Mike Anderson was asked about the NCAA Tournament. He replied, "We're a young team. I don't know if those guys can even spell NCAA."

I'm trying to remember the last time we were 8-5 or better in conference.

That was a squad that included 7 or 8 seniors who were babysat by Pel for a year, coached by Heath for 3 years and had been to the NCAA tournament the two previous year's prior and "made" the NIT their freshman year before the invitation was decline due to "tired legs".

The team wasn't super talented, but not talent void like we saw with Pel's teams that followed, it was a "Ms. State" type squad under Stans. Mediocre but good enough to make the tournament. Heath wasn't good enough to to make a final four or win a NC here, but he was good at building and sustaining a program, as he has done at USF. The level at which he has done so isn't at a high enough level to warrant a huge salary and his style is actually entertaining considering the shitfest that has overtaken the SEC since he has been here (Grant, Counzo, Martin, etc).

Yeah, but 9-7 =/= better than 8-5. Maybe were 8-5 at one point in the season?

Started out 6-2, then lost:

@Tenn 93-71
@Ms. State 80-74

Had a good bleed.

Beat LSU at home 87-61 to go 7-4, then ripped the stitches back out for another bleed losing:

@ Kentucky 63-58
@ Bama 59-56

To go 7-6, put a band aid on to wound beating #14 vandy at home 78-73 before going to get lynched @Ole Miss 81-72 before coming home to beat Auburn 77-64 to finish conference play 9-7.
