Football LSU vs Arkansas. Baseball is also pretty good. LSU brought a good group of fans up when I went down there to F'ville some years ago.

Yeah, in baseball and football, its LSU.

I enjoyed the MO/AR game yesterday but I had to keep reminding myself that it was a conference game.

We've played like 5 times in 100 years in football.

Mizzou is a totally foreign opponent for the most part.

No. We had a rival leave and go to the Big 10 and we had a rival in the Big 12. We have a rival in Illinois.

We have no natural rival in the SEC. I'm sure we'll have some good games with Arky. But I'm not sure they'll ever develop into a rival. If they didn't have our old coach, it wouldn't be much of anything. No flame. It is what it is.

They seem like rivals already... of course internet personas of both fan-bases are easier to rile up than a pair of sleep deprived two year olds with poopy drawers

That's great and all but here are some numbers that show their Yankeeness:

By the end of the Civil War Missouri had supplied nearly 110,000 troops to the Union and about 40,000 troops for the Confederate Army.

:beatdeadhorse: :beatdeadhorse:

This is older than old on this site, but this is the lure I've never been able to not bite.

Don't forget that over 30,000 Union troops that came from St. Louis were foreign born. Thousands of other Union troops throughout Missouri were also foreign born.

And 40k Confederate is a very low ball number, I've seen sites with over 50k reported. Also, Missouri is the state known most for unofficial Confederate participants.

We have a 17 county region that is called Little Dixie, which doesn't count the Ozarks which is more southern than many parts of the real south.

It was a divided state, I know you think its a major jimmy rustling topic but its getting pretty old.. time to just be real about it.

Rivals? Not yet.

Is it a feud? Yes.

Your response makes no sense. You quoted two different parts of what I said and combined them into one message...

quote:

which is more southern than many parts of the real south

Those are the words of your very own, Latarian.

Well you didn't attribute those words to him so I obviously thought it was from you. I'm also not sure why you think I should revere Lat as an authority on what's Southern and what's not.

Hell no!

When you hear that Fayetteville got burned to the ground, then you'll know there's a rivalry.

Not saying you should be in step with anything anyone else says..

Just passing on what a fellow ARK fan who lived in Missouri had to say about it..

It's funny that this south/north argument comes strongest from Arky folks. If anything it should come from the deep south, not the mid. There is essentially no difference between the MO Ozarks and the state of Arkansas, same in so many ways, plus its a melting pot of people from both states.

Ahh, you stepped in your own trap.

And what was Lawrence, KS? Union.
