Yep, just get healthy and get comfortable with a stable lineup. Also some nicer weather won't hurt.
If the infield wasn't wet Belcher probably wouldn't have slipped gloving that squeeze bunt and would have been able to get that third out. And damn the SEC for sending us to Mizzou for the first series. Just use some common sense and have them play a more southern team. At least UK got to go down to Florida.

Arky completes the sweep, first time ever SC's been swept in Carolina stadium.

5-3 Arky in 11 innings.

First home sweep since '99? Is that right?

That's what I've been hearing & that's shocking/amazing at the same time that it has been that long. And it's a testament to the program that Tanner has built here.

Anyone else excited about Colby's excellent outing tonight against CofC?

7.1IP, 4H, 1R/ER, 2BB, & 8K's.

Monte usually runs a pretty good program down there so this isn't no scrub team that Colby's pitching against, based on tonights outing do you guys feel that he should get the Sunday start coming up next weekend against UT?

Edit: 3-1 over CofC tonight

It certainly is encouraging...big question for the coaches is how well did Colby keep his pitches down throughout his start: did he have good numbers because his pitches were strong, or did he struggle again throwing high, but CofC just didn't capitalize for whatever reason....

As for our hitting, we went 8 for 32 on the night (.250), and half of them were dbls so that's a .375 slugging %, which is again a bit blah offensively.

As you stated above CofC is a solid ballclub annually, but we got 2 of our runs in the 1st inning with 2 of our 4 dbls, and then sort of just hung on the rest of the way from there. We hit 3 of our 4 dbls - the only extra-base hits for us in the game - in the first 2 innings.

And also a note that this season CofC is only 13-11 with tonight's loss, so thus far they aren't having the type season they have had in recent years....

Yea I certainly couldn't tell ya if he struggled with the high stuff, only had a chance to listen to radio after I got done with classes. Hoping to god that we take 2/3 from A&M but at the moment I highly doubt it. Just not good enough hitting all around, & A&M has solid pitching this season.

Think a one adjustment Holbrook needs to make going into the weekend is dropping Vergason from the 2 hole, he's been struggling mightly these past 4 games as he's 0fer, he probably needs to hit in the 8-9 hole this weekend. I like Payne's addition to the lineup, his bat the past couple games has been real encouraging to see. Was also good to see LB have a good game, he's been struggling as well as of late & KMart needs to DH against righties when the case presents itself.

Yeah we really need Evan to stand firm this Thursday in his start....when he lost it vs Arky, I felt the series was lost because we needed both Beal and Belcher's games to win 2. Despite Colby's performance I'm still not confident in him right now.

I guess Wynkoop will be ready to go as a possible weekend starter for us: he started out strong against Arky Sunday, then struggled in the 4th inning. He threw 70 pitches Wed. versus The Citadel, then threw a lot (100 pitches) against a tough conference opponent 5 days later. It may have been a bit overwhelming for him.

We could platoon both Jack and Colby Sunday. TAMU is hitting around where Arky is this season (.286, 8 HRs, .387 SLG, 4.8 rpg). Arky is averaging about 2 runs more per gm. But TAMU's pitching is not as stout as the Hogs (2.96 ERA, .236 opp. BA vs 1.67 ERA and .189 opp. BA), so hopefully we'll have a better chance to generate some offense this weekend...

I didn't get to watch any of the series this past weekend, but from reading the box scores I can see that I didn't miss much. Mont can't come back soon enough, we played awful.

Won tonight 3-2 over A&M bullpen pitched a gem & it was good to see we finally had a clutch hit for once.

I agree....once again however Beal seemed to hit a wall after pitching dominantly in the first 3 innings. He desperately wants to be a starter and not a role player out of the pen, but he'll need to improve on his focus in extended innings if that's to be his destination...

Adam and Tyler threw great in relief, as they have thus far this season. Our hitting still needs to improve, but hopefully tonight's win will give the team a boost of confidence for the rest of the series....

I wasn't able to watch the game last night, but am I correct to assume our hitting still needs a lot of work?

We have been hitting the ball pretty squarely, going back to the Arky series....but we hit a TON of balls right to fielders' gloves. This means either we are experiencing some hitting bad luck, or defenses are playing us to our tendencies and we're not doing enough to adjust.

LB did a great job with his dbl last night that almost was a HR, by hitting away instead of pulling. His next hit was a pull down the RF line. If he can get some hitting going to all fields like that his average will start going up again.

But overall IMO yes our hitting needs to improve...we're hitting something like .170 against SEC opponents thus far....

Well at least our hitting improved tonight, 6-4 win over the Aggies to take the series.

5 of 28 in gm #1 (.179)
11 of 34 in gm #2 (.324)
7 of 31 in gm #3 (.226)

We batted a combined .247 for the series (23 for 93)...todays game was good for power numbers as 5 of our 7 hits were extra base hits (3 HRs and 2 dbls), but overall our offense was middling at best. Our pitching was again the star of the series, as we only gave 2 earned runs per game. Errors - particularly a bad series from Pankake - helped keep the Aggies closer to us.

I've read some positive comments from Coach Holbrook about Montgomery. I know when he returns it'll mostly be very limited duty out of the BP on a pitch count for a week or so, but the sooner we can get him back the better our pitching staff will be moving forward...
