Carson definitely looked more comfortable & had much better cuts even though he went 1-3 for today.
& I doubt we'll see Costen for some time, once English comes back anyway. Since Bright has cemented himself into the every day lineup for sure after this weekend.

Great win for the Gamecocks 12-3 over Upstate! Forrest is obviously still not back from his off-season surgery....IMO he'll need some time and limited pitch counts to find his location again. Pankake was red hot going 3 for 3, and Costen got his bat going with a 3 for 4 effort tonight. Upstate came into the game tonight with a 2.27 team ERA, but all 12 Gamecock runs were earned...

Pankake has really "stepped up to the plate." His hitting over the past 2 weeks has been awesome.

Another dominating performance, 12-4 over Davidson.

Gamecocks start the SEC season right, with a 4-1 win over Mizzou.

Won 2-0 & lost 4-0 today.

I was only able to watch the first 3 innings, but it was clear that Holmes wasn't doing well again. We were down 3 starters (Mont, Taner and Costen) and it showed.
Good news is they all should be back for the series next weekend against Ark.
Hopefully we'll have Mont, Belcher and Beal as that weekend lineup and give Holmes some time to work his funk out.

I'm praying Mont is back for the Arky series. We really need him and like you said, Holmes hasn't been doing well at all lately.

I also am a bit concerned with Colby....hate to see a senior struggle like that in his final year, especially with all the postseason and CWS experience Colby has. Once Montgomery returns, we'll have him, Belcher, Beal, and Wynkoop to pick out of for the 2 weekend spots, and all have been red-hot.
I still feel Colby will get his game back in shape, but he needs to do it quickly, because he could get pushed out of the weekend rotation if he continues his struggles while the others continue to perform well...

Holmes shouldn't start this upcoming weekend, if Monty isn't back then Wynkoop should be the Sunday guy this weekend.

9-5 win over Citadel, another good outing tonight from Wynkoop. Disappointed that he started tonight honestly, since that means he probably won't start for Sunday this weekend.

Lost 15-3 to Arky tonight, good thing about tonight is that Vandy & UK both lost tonight.

As long as we take the series I don't care (too much) about a single game that just happened to get out of hand. I mean 9 runs in one inning, dafuq?
But back in 2010 I think we lost to Clemson like 20-6 or something but obviously what happened in Omaha made everyone forget about that.
Arky has a really good team this year and it wouldn't be the end of the world if we lost the series. I mean we were 1-5 last year to open the conference schedule last year. But their posters are the worst group of posters on this site. Makes me want to beat them moreso than any other team.
