With the signing of Nick Marshall and Mosely "moving on", I think the Spring will be a competition between Marshall and Jonathan Wallace with the Mocha Nightmare locked-in at 3rd string. With Marshall being a JU-Co guy picked by Gus, I feel like he's the early favorite to win the job. However, my vote would go to Wallace due to his leadership skills and work ethic

With all that being said, it makes sense for Johnson to redshirt this year to provide depth and allow him time to develop physicallly and mentally. Johnson could redshirt 2013, play back-up/mop-up duty in 2014 and be ready to start in 2015 with three years of eligibility. This would be the most stable QB situation we've had since Campbell(?)

What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

If he is not going to start then I would like to see him redshirt. Even if he was the 2nd string quaterback.

I would start him this year. We are going to be taking at least 2 QB's next year and already know what we have in Frazier and Wallace.

Nick Marshall was recruited to be our QB next year. If he performs the job is his

Jonathan Wallace is a year ahead of JJ, good size and has been working on mechanics. Also has a couple games of starting experience.

JJ > Mocha Disaster

Hard to imagine a raw technique QB like JJ will be able to come in and start

We better hope he redshirts. I don't know if I can take another year of crappy QB play.

I hope he redshirts as well.

I see this being a Marshall\Wallace race. I wish Marshall had been an early enrollee. Would be nice to have a named starter going into the summer.

I thought Marshall was an early enrollee. Will he be there by the summer?

If not, I think Wallace becomes the front-runner going into fall camp and the final decision could be very interesting

Im ready for a 3-4 year starting QB at Auburn. I dont care if its Wallace or JJ. Just give me someone who can start more than one year. Or less..

We need some stability at that position for a change

No way we have 6 QBs on the roster in 2014. I can see one guy, and the level will depend on how JJ looks in Fall practice.

I think the competition is between Nick Marshall and Jeremy. Once Nick wins out, Jeremy will be "second string" hoping to red shirt.

Wallace or Frazier will probably transfer.

Jason Smith will be at another position after spring ball.

2013-2014 Marshall
2015-2017 Johnson

Wallace and Frazier, plus anonymous 2014 QB signee will provide depth. 2015 class we go after big time guys.

Unless JJ goes into a KF-style funk

Keep in mind that Wallace was a signing day special by Scott Leoffler and the only QB of the 5 not recruited by Gus.

He is a good teammate and made the best of his crappy situation but he is not an SEC QB...just doesnt have the skill sets.

He has the speed, agility and quickness to succeed as a dual threat QB in Malzahn's offense. He has also gained a solid 15-25 pounds since coming to college to be 6'3 215-220

At Phoenix City in the run first spread similar to Rich Rodriguez' scheme, he was not asked to pass very much. He is only now developing his arm strength with D1 S&C and practicing.

Jonathan Wallace may not have a rocket arm but he has a better arm than Chris Todd, decent accuracy, and shown promise making reads.

Not saying he gets the starting job but stop shitting on the guy

Wallace? You're talking about Wallace? If you are then I guess after he takes the Tour de France this year the starting QB job will be his.

I want to know what our redshirt program overall is gonna look like under Gus. It seemed pretty non existent under Chiz. I would like to see more effort put into letting these guys develop for a year, instead of throwing them out on the field as true freshman and sophomores before they are ready .
