Still not in college football hall of fame. Mind boggling to me.

How many tackles did he have against LSU last season? Answered time to move on!

The recent trend is to at least invite a defensive player - Suh, Mathieu, Te'o.

My guess is Clowney will be invited. Everyone will know he is the best player but he still won't win.

A performance against LSU surely isn't the end all, be all standard that Heisman hopefuls are held to.

Obviously, because we straight up owned this year's Heisman winner.

I'll duck now.

he obviously has a big hurdle being a defensive player, but he has a pretty good chance to win, imo. at least the best chance a defensive player has had in recent memory.

he's going to have even better stats next year. no one is going to be able to stop him.

You mean with the broken foot and high ankle sprain?

Doctors told him to not even play - he played anyway.

I suppose that kind of injury that requires off season surgery, that playing through that kind of pain, is not comparable to having a fake girlfriend.

Gonna disagree with you there. He won't have the stand out stats that a lot of voters rely on (forced fumbles, interceptions, etc.).

What makes you say that?

Did his broken foot and ankle sprain make him consistently over-pursue Jeremy Hill?

He plays DE. He'll have a bunch of sacks and maybe a couple of forced fumbles. He'll have good stats but not Heisman stats.

He had 5 FF his freshman year and 3 this past year. No reason to think he can't get 4 or 5 next year and maybe catching a couple of his own tipped balls.

Yeah if he has 5 FF, a few INTs, and like 25 sacks he might win. But that probably won't happen.

Especially considering he has 21 sacks in his entire career so far, and no interceptions.

You guys are wishful thinking here, I think. As I said, dude will get invited out of respect, but somebody from the field will come along at QB or RB and win.

SCAR vs TAMU in Atlanta sounds beautiful.
Clowney vs JFF could be heisman determining
It would be for me at least

What other 2 year player has these numbers: 21 sacks, 35.5 TFL, and 8 FF. That is a solid 3 year career for a single player. Clowney did it in two. Not to mention the game changing plays (clutch) and other things that go unaccounted for such as pressuring a QB to toss an INT and redirecting plays.

I don't expect him to win. Heisman is an offensive award. This thread though is just speculating what he would need to get it. I think he should probably be invited though.

I mean Manti Teo had terrible defensive stats, save for 7 INTs and he finished SECOND. I know it was mostly because of lies, but still.

as hard it is to believe for you, Clowney is only getting better. he's going to be pretty much unstoppable next year.

Derrick THomas had more than that in a season and didn't even get invited.

1) Didn't win.
2) Played for ND.

It is not at all hard to believe. I think he's the best player in the country. That doesn't mean he'll win the Heisman.

I agree

this thread is just speculating and is not meant to guarantee that Clowney will win, but to act like it is a foregone conclusion that he won't win is stupid.
