under Wimp we were there most years. You really don't know the history of Bama BB do you?

We lost games that we absolutely should not have lost this season. That is why we will miss the tournament.

At the end of the day, that falls at the feet of the coach, but the team definitely responded and the growth was obvious, especially the past couple of days in Nashville. I am proud of the way we competed down the stretch of the season. We just tossed away any margin for error too early in the campaign...

But why can't we be one of them? There's no reason

(Actually, we have been a consistent tournament team in our history, but for argument's sake, I'll put that aside)

IF Billy the Kid can make UF a consistent tourney team then someone can do the same with Bama. UF was a chit hole prior to Billy D.

This is why I don't understand all the people saying that because we want Grant fired, we automatically haven't watched a game this year. I think it's the opposite. The legitimate basketball fans DO see the ineptness of Grant and understand exactly what this program can be with the right guy

Most of them are too young and only know of bama BB in the realms of the last 15 years

yes, but I'm a fan. once it was clear that pollard couldn't play the 4, engstrom got hurt, and Jacobs and gueye were our only interior options, I knew we were in deep shite. you can't beat good teams with no inside presence on offense. in hindsight, we didn't appreciate how much jamychal meant to the team.

but at no point did I consider that we should fire grant. you don't fire a coach because he lost a couple games he wasn't supposed to. if that's the way things worked, there would be like 5 coaches keep their job each year in the whole country.

that Jacobs, our only offensive post presence, should be released from his scholarship. an indefensibly stupid comment. you thought we "stood around in the perimeter" top much this year? just wait until we literally don't have a single player to post up in there. not that what you said is even remotely possible, but still it was really fricking dumb.

The only problem I have with Grant is that we aren't improving from year to year. After 4 years of no improvement, I just think it's time for a change. (and don't give me that "forever young" BS)

mrs grant, eh? frick you. how bout that? there is a 7 page thread about firing out coach after a season we went fricking 12-6 in conference that is literally the only basketball discussion on the board. forgive me for trying to restore some sanity to you mouthbreathing football fanboys.

I hear what you're saying, and part of me agrees with you, but the reason we were in such deep shite when Swede went down is because we entered the season with 11 scholarship players and only 3 post players. So that's not an excuse in my book.

we've made noticeable improvement every single year before this one, that's not even debatable. and in our down year, we just went 12-6 in conference.

that's just not true. if you look at the roster, we don't have a single complete forward or center on the roster. that we were this close at all is a testament to how hard the team plays and how well coached we are on defense. you can criticize grant's roster management as it relates to that but most of the people doing that are spoiled football fans with an embarrassing lack of perspective of where the program was when grant inherited it and where it has been historically. we'll see if it's a continuing problem going forward but this was the first season we have not improved under grant and anyone saying its time for him to be fired or giving up hope on next year already or saying we should release Jacobs when he's our only offensive post threat on the roster or ignoring engstrom's injury or saying Lacey is a shitty player or whining about how we just stand around on the perimeter on offense (which isn't true and anyone who thinks it is knows dick about basketball) or whatever all you idiots have been whining about all year even though we went 12-6 in the conference, well those people are all fricking morons. making the tournament is like finishing on the top 25 in football, not just making a bowl game. and alabama basketball is not alabama football, it never will be. I've held my to tongue while you morons have cried like spoiled children all season, even after we won games, which is pretty hilarious to me, but I'll just put it this way: if you think grant needs to be fired, and if you think thats a defensible position, you are dumb as frick, no exceptions.

I'll agree with most of this. Grant won't and shouldn't be fired this year. He has to show me something next year though. He has gotten the chance to fix his roster management error and we will have plenty of talent to be a top 25ish caliber team. Also the offensive movement was terrible for most of the year, but Grant has fixed this for the most part since the LSU game. Not sure what he did, but the ball movement has been massively better. And while it may not be the case in general, the top 25 and being a tournament team is comparable when you consider the prestige of the 2 programs.

yeah, if you think that is a fireable offense at a school like alabama, I don't know what to tell you. we had a transfer and missed on some targets in recruiting. shite happens. thankfully the people that get paid to make these decisions aren't the kind of naive children or pathologically unhappy middle aged rednecks that post in threads like these, so we should be good to go.

When you get paid $2mil/year, getting criticized for poor roster management, awful offense, and losing games you shouldn't comes with the territory. I don't think he should be fired, but he needs to show real improvement next season.

Yea when Hale gets here next year Jacobs shouldnt be on the floor much IMO or at all. I think its crazy that he has no problem moving people around when he gets the ball in the post on offense but cant put a body on anyone to box out. Our offense will run a lot better with Hale at the 4 because now when we screen your going to actually have to cover him because the best part of his game is that he is deadly from mid range. So yea I think he should ride the bench or leave. We will have 4 big man next year without him and at worst Pollard and Cooper could help out at the 4. So no what I said wasnt dumb. Just my opinion. Ive played basketball my whole life.
