If you are hoping Ozzie takes over for Mal (like me), this is a good read

Glad to see he hasn't waivered from 2009

quote:

"I am coming back," Newsome said during a speech at the Eagle Luncheon put on by the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America. "I am coming back at some point. I have a lot of work to do in Baltimore, but I am coming back." Asked specifically whether he was referring to a particular job or just the desire to return to the state, Newsome said, "I am just coming back home."

Obama then made reference to the news that Foster, a five-star linebacker from Auburn High School, had announced his decision to commit to Alabama. "You guys just got another draft pick down there. A guy who already tattooed Auburn on his arm and then decided to go to Alabama instead," Obama said.

If Obama knows that that's quite disappointing. I know it, which says something about me wasting my time, but I'm not the President of the U.S.

Yeah, I would bet some intern or staffer gave him some talking points so he could chat with Ozzie and the Foster flip was probably one of the first hits in a Google news search about "Alabama football".

Robert Gibbs used to be his press secretary, and is a HUGE Auburn fan. I bet they still keep up.

This was my theory. He was either prepped before hand, or subjected to Gibbs' bitching.

The very few 'insiders' I know tell me that ozzie is first in line when mal hangs it up. I'm sure that isn't groundbreaking news or anything...

the owner of the Ravens thanks people in the organization that he referred to as partners. Ozzie was mentioned. It could be that Ozzie is an official partner and co owner of the team. He aint getting any younger and he may retire with the Ravens.

Ozzie's done a Great job as the Raven's GM.He probably has small percent of ownership.I wouldn't blame him a bit if he retired from Baltimore. He's worked for that organization 1st as a player for the Browns and then front office in Baltimore. He's been with them going on 40 years.

Yes, I am afraid he may retire with the Ravens. And I'm certainly happy with the work Mal Moore is doing. It would be an awesome transition, though.

My best friend loves two things in life: Alabama and the Cleveland Browns. Every time you mention Ozzie, his head almost explodes with both love and hate. lol

Being a Ravens fan, I love Ozzie and he has done so much for that organization, but, I want to keep in Baltimore. There are a lot of good prospects out there for AD once Mal retires and Ozzie would be a good choice, but I want him to stay in Baltimore.

I truly thought Ozzie would want to come home after winning one more Championship but it looks like he's content to stay in Baltimore..... I don't know who else would be better as our AD than Newsome.
