It should be without question that Sammie Coates is the most athletic wide receiver we have had on our roster ina good amount of years.

The difference that Emory Blake and DaDams had was that they were above average athletic WRs who did the small things to excel in college. They did not translate to the NFL because neither one of them could hang athletically

Sammie Coates on the other hand is insane with the jump ball, speed, acceleration, size. He was incredibly raw coming to Auburn and has things to work on yes but his ceiling is very high.

DQ > Coates, that said, if Coates does the small things coupled with improved realization of his athletic potential, his best college year probably won't be too far off from DQ.

Also, if we can get a QB who isn't going to shite the bed, Sammie Coates will make the NFL as a midround draft pick

Sammie has the rest of this year and next with Nick.

Sammie has to learn more than 1 route, not rely souly on his speed, learn how to get of physical coverage, consistently catch the ball, and be much more physical before he sniffs being drafted. He was a 3 star recruit for a reason. It was the inconsistencies in all the above areas.

New midseason highlights up on Myron Burton's Hudl page. LINK

Looks like he will catch screens and be a great run blocker for us.

Plays against great competition as well. The fact he is a legacy is also important. He is very much a player in the mold of Ricardo Louis. Though he seems to already be able to catch and get up field sans the Gene Kelley routine better than RL.

Not saying Sammie us not raw but to suggest he should nt even be on the same field asDQ is pretty absurd

Look at the composite just below that 4th. It's much more valid. He's a 3* on the composite. I believe 247 was the only site to give Coates a 4th *.

247 is much better than any other scout. Even then. Don't care what Scout or Rivals said.

I can finally say with confidence that he's getting there. He's getting much better on the in routes, hitches, and curl routes. Improved a TON running those. Probably helping him there is that he now has film out there of him taking the top off of defenses, so DBs play off of him more.

Never said, suggested, nor implied that.

True but I still think he has a good ways to go in developing those other skills.

I look bad in a post where I said DW had more athleticism than coates?...

You guys have fallen in love with a highlight tape... never mind the fact that there are REAL issues including (but not necessarily limited to) his work ethic, attitude, intelligence, and ability to stay healthy.

Coates is turning the corner and is only a sophomore... if he stays healthy, he'll have an outstanding career at auburn. You people are selling him short in your rush to drool over Williams.

also, Williams graduated HS in 2010... he's at least one year older than coates, if not two... although I can't find his age anywhere.

When Auburn landed Sammie Coates, I raved about his athletic ability and speed. I said it then and I'll say it now, he's the most talented wide receiver Auburn has had in quite some time when it comes to measurables. When he figures out the game, he will be a true gamebreaker. His speed, jumping ability, and size are all major advantages for him. He just needs to sure up his hands...

And work more on his routes and learn to use his size by being physical and getting of the ball by more than just his speed.

That was not the issue and I detailed it precisely why it wasn't. Not going to regurgitate it.

You mean that scouting report you gave based off his highlight tape?....

I am not a scout nor pretend to be. I was just passing on the scouting report from people who watch more than highlights for a living.

WHOA CAT! His IQ has never been in question. The only reason he had to go to juco was he was in an unaccredited high school his 9th and I believe his 10th grade years. The kid is not lacking in academic IQ by any means.

I'm sure he's worked on them, and is currently working on them. He's only a sophomore, man.

He's not a physical type of wide receiver. He's more finesse.

Again, I'm sure he's working on that. He's still young. He has time.
