The Fault Line in the SEC West

Is there an earthquake building in the nation’s most powerful division? Yes.
After signing day, the stage will be set for a clash between traditional SEC power football and some of the most innovative playcalling in the game.
Power Football
Alabama / LSU
Power running and zone blocking with a game manager QB. Great (though different) defenses. Lots of championships live here.
Not Really: Arkansas. Hasn’t really won anything since “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” was topping the charts and isn't going to outmuscle anyone in the near future.
CBB will show what things would look like if ‘Bama and LSU had inferior coaching and no inherent recruiting advantages.
Creative Football
Texas A&M / Ole Miss
Offensive creativity and recruiting prowess. The promise of early playing time under a good staff. Using inherent school strengths and charismatic coaches to maximize each school’s natural recruiting territory. The main challenge to Power Football’s dynasty will be from one of these schools.
Not Really: Mississippi State and Auburn*. Dan Mullen has reached his ceiling and should have left while the getting is good. State is too spread out to be powerful and to beefy to stress you by spreading you out. Malzahn is a solid offensive mind, but Chizik left Auburn a wreck that will take years to fix.
* = If Gus gets another Cam Newton, watch out … but that could take a while.

Yes I know that they went 11-2 and we went 7-6 but Ole Miss and A&M are very similar as far as their football teams go. Same system, same type of coaches, and great recruiters.

MS Paint don't lie, seems legit.

Would have been more effective if that were a vertical slip fault.

Nice post. Ole Miss isn't there yet, but they keep recruiting like they are they might get there. AU is not as far as you might think once Gus gets a qb and as long as top 10 recruiting classes keep coming (the new staff may actually develop them).
Defense is gonna have to improve on the "creative" side also.
Otherwise, like it.

I don't understand this logic.
What people don't seem to realize is, this team is loaded full of kids that Gus recruited to play - most of whom HAVE played - in his system. We had one year of "Power Football" recruiting where we signed around 20 guys, most of whom were backup plans or didn't make it on campus.
The offense will see an immediate turnaround. We'll be back in the top 5 in the SEC in scoring by the end of next year.
The defense is the a major question mark, but I'm remaining cautiously optimistic.

It's going to effectively wipe out Memphis when an earthquake finally happens

A&M has a Johnny Football though
Ole Miss needs to get one of them

WHAT THE frick???
I'm not saying Memphis isn't a wasteland, and would be better off falling into the earth's core, but think about the negative impact of no more Fed Ex.
Really. That's all I could come up with. frick you suck Memphis.
