I believe their hatred is approaching Updykian levels these days.

We hate each other WAY more than y'all hate each other.

having spent time in both Mississippi and Alabama, I agree with this statement

Both are the same in that outside of their heated rivalry, no one gives two shits about them

Because no LSU fan cares about Auburn or especially Alabama. OK.

Athletically, academically, financially...
But other than that, yes, Ole Miss/MSU are the same as Bama/AU.

Not even close.
I grew up in Mississippi.
Their hatred grows when it looks like one or the other might rise above the suckage, but they get along fine when they are 5th and 6th in the SECW.

I don't know. I lived in Mississippi at one time, and I knew the hate was there but it seems stronger lately.

I've always said it was a lot more hatred than outside people think.

Probably cause both schools made a bowl and are somewhat successful?

That's as good an explanation as any, pivey. Also, the fact that MSU started out so strong and got a lot of attention in the first half of the season, but then Ole Miss finished so strong, leaving both fanbases heavily engaged this year.

this. also, both schools are having the best recruiting years in school history, and both are expanding stadiums.

Stakes are higher now. They are both decent to being on the verge of being good.
Very important in terms of who gets there first.
