exactly.

But our defense was terrible last season (and this season), and Norfolk State was white hot that day. We also had no answers for current NBA player Kyle O'Quinn, who dominated us inside all game long. It was a perfect storm of their guards being able to keep up with ours (which was our strength), and their big men dominating our lack there-of.

Good read. +1. Will read again. Bookmarked.

If any school needed to drop down to DII, it's Mizzou.

KC you forgot the Omni turf experiment and the first night game in MU history. It had been 60's all week and day of game it becomes like 35 and mist. Kordell was benched and Detmer started and tried to give game away, but MU wouldn't take it. Thursday night ESPN game also.

Pretty sure #4 was at Mizzou, not Nubtown.

I'll add one: Late 80s Mizzou 2 or 3 seed against Northern Iowa. Team was stacked with talent, D Smith, Peeler. B Irvin. We blow it.

And another: Tied with OU in second half of 07 B12 conf champ game. Win and we are in NC game. We totally fold and OU blows it open in 4th qtr. End up getting screwed out of bcs game, ku takes our spot after we curb stomped them a couple weeks earlier. At least we got to destroy the piggies in the Cotton bowl after to ease the pain.

They were a 3 seed in Richmond. We lost in finals AMCU tourney to them in same type of play. Then that bastard Reese dominated Smith.

MU was first game of tourney that year.

That's #5, but yes, fitting.

What year was it that MU beat OU KU in back to back games when they were ranked #1. then turned around and lost the next week?

Was that 90 or 91?

Another one to add. Think it was 1980 basketball. A team with the likes of Frazier and Sunvold on the team loses their 6' 11" center (later the #2 overall pick in the NBA draft), after shooting himself in the shoulder, causing him to miss a good chunk of the season.

ETA - Sundvold was the #16 pick in the same draft and Frazier was a 1st round pick the year before Sundvold and Stipanovich were drafted. Could have been a heck of a year that year.

Not sure about that one, I'm too young to remember Norm era. However, last year we got as high as #2 before (and I called this one) pissing down our leg at shitty Oklahoma State.

Oh yeah honorable mention to the OP as well:

2002 NCAA tournament Mizzou is facing OU in the Elite Eight. Kareem Rush, Ricky Paulding, Clarence Gilbert, etc. Madly talented team. Clarence Gilbert had been an absolute SNIPER from 3-point range all season. Mizzou ends up losing the game late by 8 points thanks in part to Clarence Gilbert going ONE for SEVENTEEN from the field, as well as the team shooting like 50% from the stripe. In retrospect, I definitely should've included that one in the OP.
