Is Chris Jones the highest rated player to ever come out of Mississippi?

I can't think of another in the Rivals or Scout era. And certainly not in the two years that 247Sports has been available.

CJ Johnson was highly rated not number 2 however.
I think he was 15 on Rivals iirc

I honestly don't know but he definitely has to be the highest rated player to commit to a school NR.
Also some think he will end up being the best player in this class
RN is a badass but some say Cj has a higher ceiling

Chris Jones is now rated the #2 overall player in the class of 2013 by 247Sports.

I apologize CJ was Number 21 in the final Rivals ranking in 2011

Thats a hell of a descrepancy amongst the recruiting services.

Dontae Walker was the #1 overall recruit for awhile -- ended up as #10 or so and the #1 national RB. That was prior to the current database setups at Scout and Rivals though.

Jason Campbell is the highest rated player AUs ever pulled outta the great state of MS... pretty sure he was a 5-star on scout... that's the only one I really follow.

Marcus Dupree was the number one prospect in the country in 1982.

Yes they are -- almost a consensus among the national guys that RN is better right now, but Jones has a higher ceiling. RN is developed -- Jones is raw...

That's why he qualified it with in the database lifetime

Show me one link that's not Gene or Rosie
You do realize that RN is likely to play DE at 300+ lbs which is ridiculous. You may keep telling yourself that CJ has a higher ceiling but he will never have the measurables RN has.

More of a sign of how quickly Rivals is dropping since they lost most of their analysts to 247 IMO.

CJ Johnson is the highest @ Rivals #21.
Shon Coleman
Quentin Culberson
DeAndre Brown
Jerrell Powe
all within the top 25... and thus all Rivals 5*s

Dontae Walker and Marcus Dupree were all prior to the current set-up of recruiting services, all-star games, and summer camps that help evaluate players more efficiently. Though Dupree's talent speaks for itself. I saw Walker play in high school. He was ridiculous.

In the second to last ranking CJ was 15th
He moved down after the all star game I believe.
