With all due respect my brother got into Auburn and he didnt do shite in high school had less than a 3.0 and his ACT wasnt too good either.

These one off "my brother" stories don't mean shite. I had a 2.8 GPA in high school because I didn't give a shite. Took the ACT one time with no preparation, got a 31 and got into AU (probably didn't hurt that I was a legacy applicant).

I could give you plenty of stats about the average range of ACT/SAT scores and GPA's between AU and Bama and AU wins every time.

Yeah, pretty worthless. I put stock in how much graduates make and average SAT/ACT scores and GPAs of incoming classes.

Im just saying man I know some straight dumbasses that go to both BAMA and Auburn. Theyre both solid public schools but Auburn isnt like some brain trust. There are a lot of "how da fuq this guy get in here" types at both schools.

I thought about going to Auburn until I visited on a hot summer day and got pink eye from how saturated the air was with cow manure. shite took 2 weeks to clear up.

All GA rednecks and dumbasses are sent West to Alabama to be sorted into their dumbass redneck houses. Better?

Rankings would suggest UF has the slight edge among the three. I give you guys the edge in engineering, but we don't slack. Also, we do have highly ranked graduate programs, including the best medical school in the south behind Emory.

Duke and UAB say hello.

Incoming freshmen of AU and UGA have approximately the same ACT score FYI.

And AU grads make more money on average, both starting out and mid-career.

University of Georgia (UGA) $41,100 $79,200

Even harder to put any stock in US News rankings when the guy who based his opinion on these rankings misquoted them.

A lot of people on here on confusing the education actually received at a particular school with admission standards, which usually, but not entirely correlate.

Lol Auburn ahead of Florida because of mid-career starting salaries? Shouldn't you consider the proportion of student graduating with degrees that make a lot of money? That is a very skewed methodology. Auburn is not as good as Florida. Florida is more selective and has the better ranked graduate programs. Florida is no Vanderbilt, but according to undergraduate admissions selectivity and graduate research rankings, behind Vanderbilt, Florida and aTm are the best schools, with Florida having a slight edge in undergraduate selectivity.. And no, UGA doesn't just get AAU membership because their medical school is "up and running at full speed.". They need to have meaningful research going on, along with many other factors. Oh and UAB's medical program is unranked, so saying that it has a better medical school than UF, which is ranked higher than university of Miami, and has more research dollars than any med school in the south east, and just built two new medical centers with more coming, is just funny. Sorry, but when other conferences laugh at the SEC academics, Florida and aTm are largely not include.

Auburn is a very solid school, but you're not fooling anyone with this idea that Auburn is this elite faux "Southern Ivy" school with rigorous enrollment standards. I have a couple of Auburn friends who I love dearly who were to put it kindly weren't very bright. They BARELY got by in high school and had no problem either getting into or graduating from Auburn. I also had a couple of the smartest people I know who went to Auburn. Auburn, like most large universities has plenty of both.

That's because like 3 people take the ACT in Georgia.

SAT to ACT conversion chart would probably make more sense to use in this situation.

Umm... AU grads start out making a bit more as well. Do some research. Not much beats an engineering degree. Esp starting out.

Florida is more selective

Prove it. Average ACT and GPA of incoming freshmen would be a good place to start. AU is 27.4 and 3.7. What is UF?

Most in FL take the SAT fwiw. I'm not interested in this argument though.

The average GPA was 4.3 btw.
SAT was 1958

Vandy
A&M/Florida
UGA
Mizzou
Alabama
Auburn
Kentucky
Arkansas
South Carolina
Tennessee
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss State

Florida and A&M are interchangeable depending on what you value. Florida has a great Medical school and has the older academic rep. A&M has an insane endowment (over $7 Billion which is more than double Vandy and dwarfs UF at $1.2 B) that is projected to triple in the next 5 years because of oil and rare minerals (A&M and Texas split a fund based on State owned land in West Texas that is loaded with them). A&M also has incredible engineering, high recruitment/pay rates, and huge research dollars that are growing fast as well as a Med School that is gaining momentum and a new Law School.

UGA and UA are both hurt by not having an on campus Med School. If you count those as part of their Universities they are significantly stronger. UGA is also hurt that GTech is the "research" school by design in Georgia but academically UGA is very solid. Bama is also improving steadily. Both have a shot at AAU membership if they can boost their research spend with Mizzou, A&M, and GTech there as addl co-sponsors.

Auburn is structurally similar to A&M with very good engineering and the great Vet school but without the huge endowment and resources.

Mizzou is a solid all around school, if unspectacular. They are an old AAU member but not really a research powerhouse. Academics are a high priority similar to UGA but they aren't elite.

It's a drop after that to the others, each has an area or two of excellence but just aren't that well rounded. None of them are terrible though, even the Mississippi schools are working hard to improve they just don't have the cash and have to overcome a mediocre reputation.
