Please help me with this. The Board has a mechanism to push down posts that others don't care about/respond to. Why do we need to have a totally separate Board for the random posts about...whatever. If they suck, they'll disappear naturally.
Who really gives a crap about OT content being on the UGA Board? Why do some people feel like its their God given right to control what other people want to post? If it becomes a problem, then fix it....but don't restrict the Board based on a perceived issue that doesn't really exist.

quote:IMO, it's not about the quality of the thread, it's about the content. OT stuff is not meant for the UGA SPORTS Board. From my understanding, we are asking for the Other Side, so we can make posts/threads that are OT in nature for UGA posters. We have a pretty big group of UGA posters in here and like I said before, we pretty much went from a seven-bedroom mansion in the slums to a studio apartment in the nice part of town. We need space up in here.

Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, and the State of Mississippi would riot with jealousy.

Any other solution will just shoot the board in the foot and drive off those who make this thing tick, imo.
respectfully disagree.

Georgia has more traffic. More posts, and most topics per Georgia board than Alabama and Auburn. But that's because some from DR choose to strictly not post anywhere else but here. While pretty much all fans from other boards stick to the SECr or O-T.

This is the key.
To hell with the SECr in general. I (along with most of the old Ranters) wouldn't post there any more than I do in the TD OT forums. It's okay, but there's just too many damn people there that we don't know and don't want to know. Waaaaay too many people that don't care about contributing anything decent to the conversation, just want to flame and post GIFs and "U mad bro"'s and all such manner of stupid shite.
In other words, we would like a place where we (the UGA board) can talk to each other about whatever we want without all the hassle from everyone else (other fanbases), while keeping the rest of our crew happy by not cluttering up the sports board with OT shite.

frick 'em. When they bring the level of activity to their respective boards that we have here then they can bitch about things.

quote:Just checked. Bama has 34 total pages on their board. We're at 100 and I'm pretty sure it cuts off at 100 so there's even more. Bama just has a lot of traffic at the moment obviously because of this upcoming week.
Auburn and Alabama disagree.

Auburn goes to 74 as well.

Just look at the last reply on the last thread on the first page. Auburn's was fricking two days ago.
Posted on 1/4/13 at 3:14 pm to LewDawg
Auburn and Arky both have posts from last year starting on page 2. Bama's start on 3, and that's with the upcoming Natty. Ours is at page 5 or 6.

Let's look at USCe and UF for comparison....

Good God, I don't know which one's worse. They both have threads from mid December on the first page.

This is part of the problem, IMO. It's like the influx of dawgranters are the new kid at a new school, and instead of going out and making new friends you sit in the back of class and wonder why you're sitting at home on the weekends.
I understand that the SECR has it's fair share of idiots and trolls, but there's a wealth of good conversation and info that can be gleaned if someone would just make an effort.

What I don't really understand is why not use the boards that already exist for this. Outside of something VERY specific to the state of Georgia or whatever community you live in IRL, there's nothing that can't be discussed on the OT, MSB, or M/TV board. It seems to me like you (not necessarily singling you out robby, this is just the vibe I get in general from the dawgranters) want to basically have a mini-Tigerdroppings all to yourself where ONLY UGA fans can post.
I mean, if Chicken creates a UGA OT board, then the 13 other schools will want one as well.
If yall dislike this site so much (basically everything involved with TD and the SECR aside from this one particular UGA sports forum), why not try to get whatshisname to get the dawgrant back up, or start your own forum?

I like some of the other boards on here.
I also like the idea of discussing OT stuff with Ga people. We would do it here, but Chicken doesn't like those types of threads on a UGA sports forum, so an OT board might be a good compromise. He's the one that asked for a suggestion, and most of us like the idea of a UGA OT. I don't see what the big deal is.
And?

I think it's more of a familiarity type thing. I know it is for me. I've been posting with alot of these guys for years. I'm just not that interested in trying to mix in with all the others. I've posted there a few times, but it's just too damn big. Way too many people makes it hard to keep up with any one conversation. I hate to sound like a dumbass, but I can't keep up enough most of the time to tell what the hell is going on.

I've post on some of the other boards but the OT in general has very little knowledge of Ga and the typical response to anything about Georgia is that it sucks and to stay away

Why, they have very little traffic.

I do agree with your premise though about posting on other boards. The MSB, Movie, and political boards aren't clique dominated like some other boards.
I've noticed some of the old DR posters on those boards.
Regarding the OT, I enjoy reading it, and I'll post on it now and then. But it tends to be a bunch of people who know each other in real life. I'd enjoy one on the DR though just cause I've dealt with alot of them for awhile now.

I have a site waiting. Zero rules meaning anything goes, paid articles free and mutiple sports on the outside as well. Tried to hook it up, but the DR dick just gave up rather than making it make sense for everyone.
