ok- let me try it another way: Golden is rated higher than Relf- a guy that won 16 games at QB for us and holds school records

I see your pooint Coonass, but as a program who wants to take the next step in the SEC we HAVE to have TOP LEVEL QB play. Just my 2 cents. Relf won games as did Matt Wyatt and Wayne Madkin, but it sure would be nice to win and continue to win games with top level QBs like we currently have with Tyler and Dak.

Bundy, we have already taken our next step in the SEC- we have become a perenniel bowl team. The only thing we can hope for now is that special group like 1999 that is good enough in that one season to win 10-11 games. But that is not a step- just a special season. We dont have any more steps to take as a program

I agree with all of this, but boy would it be NICE to land a 4 Star QB every year. It is Christmas season you know We can only dream.

If we only still had Dylan Favre on the team right?

Bingo. Is it not possible that we already know Dobbs' intentions privately? Sure seems that way from everyone in the know being pretty sure we have him. So, why wait? Here's a good theory I heard -- Let's remember who Dobbs is committed to...and who the AD is at their biggest rival(the guy who hired Mullen and remains close with him). Why not throw the ninja a bone by waiting until a later time to flip his biggest rivals' 4* QB and thus leave them scrambling, instead of leaving them plenty of time to find another good option?

And this workout is no big deal...all good prospects do it. Doesn't mean much one way or another. Just as likely to hurt his draft stock as it is to help it.

You are also a message board warrior and not a football coach. Don't you think they have a better grip on this than you do?

If he's a good player, I think it's safe to say the Mets won't draft him.

I'm not sure I can agree with that sentiment. An epic fail?
Definitely an epic fail. What else can you call having 3 straight recruiting classes (2010, 2011, 2012) with only getting one QB who wasn't either a big time fall back plan (Favre, Schuessler) or a walkon (Golden, etc.)? Even Russell (2009) was a Croom commit and our 2013 class currently sits with ZERO committed QBs who are likely to show up on campus. Given Mullen showed up in Starkville having been a QB coach/OC with 2 1st round pick QBs on his resume I would never have believed he would have been so ineffective in getting good QBs to MSU.

Link to these odds? Everyone is unfairly jumping to conclusions on Sandberg. I agree that we've got to take a 2nd qb to protect ourselves, but it's idiotic to assume he isn't going to show simply because he is a good baseball prospect. I can tell that most of you have seriously never been CLOSE to the world that is high-round MLB-quality guys coming out of highschool. If you had, you wouldn't be so dismissive one way or the other. It turns on a whim. One day, they are talking rounds 3-5, the next you go undrafted because they "perceived" unsignability even though you never actually gave them cause.

And greyshirt offer to Sandberg? Really? You don't think that just pushed him further toward signing with MLB?

Go back to 2004-2008 that's an epic fail. You're just experiencing disappointment.

Bundy fought everyone on here tooth and nail about Favre. He talked about how good he would be etc etc. I remember several arguments I had with him. He really looked impressive throwing 13 picks in JUCO this year. As someone else pointed out, Mullen has missed on just about every top QB prospect on our board besides Dak. I guess you can give him Tyler too, but he was already committed before Mullen got here.

I agree. I coached a guy last summer that went and worked out for the Marlins several times. They told him they were going to take him between 5-10 rounds. He never got a call and is currently playing JUCO ball

It would give him the option to still sign a scholarship in the event that he isn't drafted/doesn't get the money he wants from MLB

I didn't give odds but I think most people that don't have their head in the sand would agree that its more likely at this point that Sandberg does NOT come to MSU than he does. The kid obviously WANTS to play baseball if someone will give him that opportunity with a nice hefty bonus. Well it only takes ONE MLB team willing to do that and he's gone.
