He was Co-Defensive Coordinator at Clemson, so they gave him that title to make it a lateral move. The titled people make more money, so look for Gus next big hire to be the Asst. Head Coach. Bama gives their ball scratchers titles.

Well it's safe to make the assumption anyway. At least until he grows a pair and goes on his own. He very well could be a fine coach, but no way of telling while suckling the tit of Saban.
