Clemson was ranked 80th in pass defense this year. We were 45th.
Maybe he'll work better with Johnson, but this hire sucks on the surface.

He was one of the top 25 recruiters in the nation a couple of years ago according to Rivals. Not a stretch at all.

So we're just supposed to ignore the fact that Clemson's pass defense was atrocious last year b/c Harbison is a good recruiter?
When it's actually proven that we have some good coaching on this new staff, and the practice translates over to the field, I'll be satisfied.
Until then, I'll remain skeptical.

Harbison has put DBs in the draft the last 3 or 4 years. i don't think Clemson's problems stemmed from poor secondary play as much as a total crap d.

I'm going to support Malzahn, and I'm trying to get behind the hire more and more, but I'm tired of fans talking about how great of recruiters these coaches are. We've already seen what a staff full of recruiters and no coaching will get you (minus a once-in-a-generation talent).
Recruiting is nice, but this team needs fundamental coaching in the worst way.

Pissin and moanin aint gonna change the hires...just agrivate ppl.
With that said, Clemson's Pass D went from 7 to 22 to 50 to 82 the four years he coached the DBs.
Not good.
