Can any of you give me some inside info on what happened with David Yost stepping down as offensive coordinator. Did he step down on his own or was he "asked" to step down? I have always thought highly oh his play calling. I wish LSU would hire him.

The guy was kind of a moron when it came to play calling. He was supposedly a good recruiter and the players seemed to like him as a person, but he was fricking terrible as a play caller IMO. Glad he's gone. I think the boosters pressured him out FWIW

Well, LSU has an offensive coordinator that would have trouble finding employment in the Pop Warner leagues. Yost recruited well, he produced some really good quarterbacks (which I can't even remember the last time LSU was sound in that area), and won some big games. Don't take this the wrong way, but I never thought of Missouri as this "powerhouse" program. I think Yost would do well at a program like LSU.

I don't take it wrong, and Yost would be lost in a program like yours,

Missouri is by no means a "powerhouse program". However, there is NO excuse for Mizzou to not be an 8-4 team annually. I compare us to Wisconsin, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, etc. We should be an upper-middle tier team who goes bowling every year and has at least a 10 win season once every 5 years or so. Missing a bowl this year was completely inexcusable. Mizzou is in a state of over 6 MILLION people and is the ONLY Division 1 program in the state. We are one of the wealthiest and most populated schools in the SEC, and should not be losing 7 out of 12 games ever.

You would think in this situation that he was shite-canned. However, the people with major credibility (DeArmond, Matter, Vahe) are all saying that he chose this. Actually he had sent in his letter of resignation a week prior, but Pinkel went back to him 3 times to try to talk him out of it. He told Yost to go think about it the first two times, and the final time Yost said this is what I really want to do. The man was the OC, QB Coach, and Special Teams coach. He just needs his batteries recharged and he will get back into coaching somewhere.

Pinkel after 12 years has never fired a single coach, so that would also lend to the credibility of him not being forced out.

Actually Yost was forced out by some heavy hitting buster who wanted Alden to fire Pinkel after Pinkel had his news conference and said he was not going to change a thing next year. After the news conference the busters went to Alden and pretty much demanded at least Yost be fired. Pinkel was told not to let his personal life get in the way of his ability to coach, Pinkel was pissed that Yost was forced out. I don't think Pinkel was told this but if Mizzou does not go to a bowl game or goes to a lower tier bowl next year look for Pinkel to turn in his "pink slip" after the season next year. You might wonder were I got my information since I'm a Hog Fan, I live in Missouri and I am married to a Mizzou grad We are very good friends with one of the aldermen at Mizzou. You might not believe me since I am a Hog Fan but this is what happened.

Oh Pinkel is as good as gone IMO.

I haven't looked a Mizzou's schedule but I'd guess they won't make a bowl.

And if they do it will be at 6-6 with I think would still get Pinkel fired.

So you think Mizzou is better than 6-6 next year and Pinkel is safe?

Delusional much?

Naw, sounds like you a a closet TB'er. In all seriousness, that's pretty much what's been said on the different boards. People have been calling for Yost for quite some time.

Still, I'd say the odds Mizzou is doing a Coaching Search this time next year are really high.

In Yost's defense - being OC, QB coach and recruiting coordinator is too much for one coach to do. By all accounts, he is a great person, and was a fantastic recruiter and QB coach, just not so much a play caller. He could design great plays, but the in-game stuff just was not his thing. I really think the fact that he never played the game and learned everything he knew on the job was a hindrance for him.

As far as Pinkel, no, I don't think he's safe with 6-6 next year. But the schedule is definitely more favorable than this year's was, and sets up for us to start 5-0 with any luck at all.

Well your post does have some credibility with some of the less noteworthy details of shite that are actually going on. Personally I think we are looking for a new coach after next year, whether its because we dont make a bowl or Pinkel retires. The thing is Pinkel has 5 straightforward wins to start next season. If he loses one of those (yes I know we lost to Vandy this year), his seat will be really hot. Here is our schedule for those that want to see.

Murray State
Toledo
Open (insert random MAC/Sun Belt team)
@Indiana
Bye
@Vandy
@UGA
UF
S. Caro
UT
@UK
Bye
@Mississippi
TAMU

With this schedule I personally think we need to hit 8-4 or we truly are not progressing further.
