I dont care about his baggage. If you dont have a defense you are not going to win the sec. Offensive coaches never have good defenses in the big conferences. Competing for the sec championship and national championship is more important than saying we won 9 or 10 games and lost to bama every year. And I would take Fisher or Patterson any day over him or gus.

WE WON A CHAMPIONSHIP WITH ONE OF THE WORST PASS DEFENSES EVER ASSEMBLED AT AUBURN

You realize that Auburn won in 2010 without much defense and Arkansas was 2nd without much defense either.

Doesn't mean you can't have success. Bob Stoops is an offensive coach, he wins alot.

Jimbo can't even consistently win the ACC, and you want him? And Gus is an offensive coach, why do you want him and not Petrino?

Your argument sucks

You mean offensive coaches like Urban Meyer?

You also realize that Fisher is a former OC, and thus also an offensive coach, right?

Actually he was a DC before becoming HC. He reminds me of Belichick in that he has DC experience but his offense is usually what his teams are known for.

Auburn had Fairley and a run defense. Oklahoma had a defense and not much offense when Stoops won the NC. Fisher is a better recruiter and had a better defense in a better confence than bp did at UL. I never said I wanted Gus over BP. BP haters are not going to change the ones in love with him or the other way around so it is pointless to try.

metafour - yes i know he was a qb coach and oc but his offense is not a style hurts his own defense.

Auburn's defense in 2010 was trash. It is statistically the worst defense to win a MNC in recent history...by a LOT.

Also, Jimbo Fisher couldn't hold Petrino's clipboard. LMFAO. The guy is the HC at FSU in the terrible ACC, and he still somehow manages to frick it up every year. The talent discrepancy he has over the rest of that conference is ridiculous.

Put Petrino at FSU in that conference and he goes apeshit.

That is why it was such a big suprise because how unlikely it is for a sorry defensive team to win a nc. Without Fairley busting up plays and the O scoring a ton of points we would have lost a few games.

If you put BP in the acc or the pac 12 and he would clean house. The sec is different.

410 1615 32 450 289 17 3536 22
54 TDs and 5151 total yds...friggan pathetic

Again, just say you hate him because of his baggage and be done with it. No one can argue against that (because its true) and its easier for me to believe.

Yeah. For me, I would rather have someone else who is just slightly below Petrino, but without the baggage. I just have a hard time believing it won't hurt recruiting with him here. Not everyone's parents are going to want their kids to play for him, because of it. However, if it comes to Petrino, I sure as hell won't be disappointed if he's our next coach.

You've lost your mind if you think Fisher is a better HC than Petrino.

Guarantee that a Petrino-led FSU squad scores at least 40 on that Ga. Tech defense last night and blows them out of the water.

Yeah, FSU won, but a 6-6 Ga. Tech team was driving for the winning TD on its final possession of the game until the INT. No way that game should've been that close.

Petrino>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fisher

ETA: Having said that, I'd take Fisher over Malzahn. Not even close.

WE ALSO HAD THE #1 RUSH DEFENSE IN THE SEC THAT SEASON, WHICH WAS #9 IN THE NATION.

RUN THE BALL (#5) AND STOP THE RUN (#9) = CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

If you cant handle someone talking about your dream man then go somewhere else. I dont care. He only won half his sec games and couldnt field a defense. What he done at UL is meaningless in the sec. You can call that a great coach all you want but I dont.

Okay so Raber57 doesn't believe Petrino is a great coach. Duly noted.

And while we are on the topic, you are calling for Gary Patterson. You threw out Petrino's years at UL so let's throw out Patterson's years in the MWC. Patterson has a losing record in the BIG 12 which is a subpar league to the SEC, he has rampant drug use that had his starting QB go to rehab at the beginning of the year and multiple players get arrested and also his record vs top 25 teams while coach is 12-8 over the past 14ish years. He averages less than one top 25 team a year. No shite he is going to win that much any coach worth his salt should.

Also fun fact for those interested, if you take out teams that would go on to play for a BCS NC from Bobby's SEC record, he would be 17-11. That is pretty fricking amazing for a coach at Arkansas that had a rebuilding year in 2008
