Why isn't the season moved up a week to have title games this weekend?

Every stadium seems pretty empty in the SEC this weekend and this is usually the case due to the holiday, weather, etc. I'm sure the NCAA mandates the start of the season but it would make more sense to have title games this weekend. This thread could be a non-issue when expansion continues and more games occur.

The few stadiums...minus Georgia, have been at SEC stadiums where the teams have sucked this year. Of course it will be empty.

There will be big crowds with the later games.

Wait 'til all games are played; that won't be the case in some places.

Are you suggesting moving the season start up by a week, getting rid of bye weeks, or shortening the season by a game? Just curious.

I agree with your final sentence.

Even when the stadium isn't empty the students are gone and the atmosphere is usually a shell of itself.

Which is part of the beauty of playing on TDay, Tiger Authority. The game is played, then students drive/fly home for the weekend.

Not getting rid of bye weeks. Getting rid of a directional game or moving the start of the season up a week would get my support.

Not every school starts as early as LSU. Particularly in the midwest and west coast, school starts a week or two weeks later.

Hence, moving the start of the season up a week would mean it starts before students are even on campus in a lot of places.

That already occurs at many Pac 12 schools.

So you would make it even worse. That doesn't seem like a good thing, nor is it within the spirit of cfb.

Then take a directional team off the schedule. Problem solved.
