John Jenkins no fan of cut-blocking: 'I think it's cheating'

quote:

John Jenkins grants that the way Georgia Southern (and Georgia Tech) block is legal. He just doesn't think it should be.

quote:

"This team perfects the art of cutting," he said of GSU. "I mean look, they chopped Alabama in half last year. So I mean, this team perfect the art of cutting."

quote:

"It’s one thing when you’re in high school, but when you’re at the college level that’s people’s livelihood, and stuff like that. … It’s different when you’re talking about people’s livelihood. I’ve read stories about people being cut a different way and they no longer can play football. And they were using football to feed their family.”

I feel ya' big man

I dont care. The more I read about these blocking techniques the more I hate them. People get hurt because these cowards can't block us like men.

Mark Richt says, down lineman get cut all the time.
quote:

I think if you play aggressively and we do a good job of simulating it throughout this week and next week, we’ll be fine,” he said. “The thing of it is, down linemen get cut all year long. It’s not that different as much as it is for the guys on the perimeter. It is somewhat different; there’s probably more of it. But they do get cut all the time.”

If they get cut all the time then why did we are we practicing in full pads all week in order to practice avoiding the cut block?

Read this part again:

I read it. Have you ever heard a CMR press conference? He's not going to come out and say what the fans say. He's saying they cut block a lot more and is being nice about it.

Dominant pass rushers hate being cut the most, because it sticks a knife in their plans to get up the field after the quarterback. That's why Justin Tuck is talking about it. Osi Umenyiora probably hates it too. So they'll all be talking shite to each other during the game. "Stay off my fricking knees, motherfricker!" But that certainly won't stop the Falcons O-line now. Not when you have verbal confirmation from your opponents that it's bothering them.

i mean it's a great technique for quicker, less physical lineman but the cutting techniques and uses are totally different for a pro or spread offense and an option offense. where as it may be used primarily for backside plays the triple option is like whole sale cut blocking

The defensive linemen should knee these frickers in the head every chance they get.

I feel for the running backs in this argument... No one ever goes to bat for those guy's knees... It's actually considered good technique to take their legs out, whether they see it coming or not.

You're making the same mistake as before. Overestimating the intelligence of UGA fans.
