Aggie fans. Do you agree with the JFF = Ty Detmer comparison?

Not really, this has been hashed out several times and there's really not a great comparison. frank tarkenton maybe?

Best comparison is still Brett Favre on a motorcycle.

Not even slightly...

Detmer had 0 rushing ability. LINK

I feel like a homer saying it, but Vick at VTech.

I don't know if you know this, but 1990 was the year that Detmer won the Heisman, and the Wrecking Crew was in full swing. We were selected to play BYU in the Holiday Bowl, and they bitched for a month about how they deserved a better opponent than lowly SWC runner-up Texas A&M.

We went into that game with a little chip on our shoulder. Our guys separated Detmer's non-throwing shoulder. BYU left him in the game, and we proceeded to separate his throwing should as well. We won the game something like 65-10.

I can't hear the name Ty Detmer and not think of the shot of his mother crying in the stands because he had separated both of his shoulders. In other words, I don't take any comparison to Detmer as much of a compliment.

Doug Flutie Jr. But honestly, I don't think I've seen anybody that exactly matches how Manziel plays.

Detmer is kind of a vag in the eyes of older Ags. I think Ward is a better comparison.

Most A&M fans have a mental image of Detmer rolling around on the ground in pain. I don't know about passing ability, but there really hasn't been a quarterback as slippery as Manziel is.

He's an original. No comparison.
