So, why demote Sal? It is pretty obvious that Dooley is trying to make him a scape goat IMO.

Maybe he sucks as a DC?

I hear ya. How much better can the defense actually get though? Your LB's are slow AF and you have no speed in the back 4. There really isn't much talent to work with on UT's D IMO.

He hired him,so in the end it falls on Dooley regardless.

Not his fault.

Sal put his players in position to make the right plays - Dooley just simply couldn't motivate or coach them to play with any confidence.

I just want to know what would happen if our offense played our defense right now...

Sounds like Bama's plan is workin' perfect... Hart, Dooley, Sunseri, the TE coach etc. All those bammer connections at UT....

Where is Cheek from??

This is simply not correct. Bump and run with a single high safety on 3rd and 20+ over and over is just a glimpse into his ineptitude.

Does Wilcox deserve any blame? The #s for his defenses may have been better but they weren't any more fundamental the previous two years.

Linebacker coach version of Trooper Taylor. Mainly a recruiter, without the backwards hate and towel.
Only Sal is a better LB coach than Troop is a WR coach.

Wilcox's defenses were much more conservative. He knew he did not have much talent on D, but masked it pretty well for the most part. We would be 2-3 games better with him this year imo.

Secondary coach Josh Conklin running practice and will (along with Dooley) call the plays from here on out. Sunseri coaching the LBs only.

10 returning starters from a top 30 defense and two SEC caliber JUCO Defensive lineman, should be enough to keep our defense respectable.

Sal's fault the defense sucks, Dooley's fault for hiring Sal.

Really? That is crazy. Dude has nowhere near the personnel or depth to run his defense

This. You can't expect it to work immediately.

Yeah, when you're blitzing so often on 3rd and long and leaving no safeties back deep, you're going to give up big plays.

Don't know why Sal didn't adjust his defense to one that would be better suited toward his players.

exactly. the play calling has been absymal. if you think it's a base transition issue, you haven't been watching.

The commentators have been questioning our defensive play calling all year.

The ESPN network commentators.
