@ClayTravisBGID: Jon Gruden is UT's Nick Saban. Time to back up the dumptruck and pay as much as he wants.

Clay Travis is a DA and wears Duck Head. His voice is null and void

Has JG ever coached college? Do we even know if he can recruit or even wants to recruit?

Gruden will not have a pre-built, all-pro D when he gets to UT like he did at Tampa Bay to bail him out when the offense goes to shite.

Would be a huge hire for UT. The bama and ut game would get very interesting

how many coaching searches in a row has Gruden been a lock for the UT or ND job because he lived there a week in high school?

Clay Travis is a dumbass. Now that I've gotten that out of the way,

What makes you think he wants anything to do with UT?

^This. Be wary of a NFL coach moving to college and vice versa. It rarely works out. See Saban and Spurrier for examples.

Pete Carroll hasn't coached at college in nearly 20 years when he took the job at USC. and he barely made divisional playoffs in the NFL.

I really don't think you want to get into how Carroll was so good at USC do you?

I don't care what anyone says. USC was the team of the decade in the 2000's. period.

The tough thing for UT is that by their own moronic personnel decisions, their financial situation is one of the worst in the conference. The UT dumptruck won't be quite so full after paying Dooley and staff his buyout. I liked Sal Sunseri as much as the next Bama fan, but it was utterly stupid to give a first time defensive coordinator a three year contract. Now you're gonna have to pay him to not coach also.

Gruden would certainly be a big splash of a hire, but in a couple of years, after Gruden has demonstrated his distaste for sitting around high school kids' dining room tables, and the Vols are still wallowing in mediocrity, let's see how happy Vol fans are. Just like the coming Auburn-Petrino marriage, this one is gonna be fun to watch.
