It looks that way right now and I hate it for him. :(

It's fine. The Davis/Williams combo running behind a veteran Oline and Biggy Smalls next year will win us some games

True. At least he'll surely come back next year. Really excited about Williams.

Williams looks great! It also looks like he may have claimed Wingo's spot as the wheel route specialist.

Nope just an over rated prospect from Missouri.

if wingo had any sense of reality he would have asked petrino to be moved to safety after his sophomore year.

If Petrino gave a shite about defense he would have pushed him towards the switch as it was obvious after his freshman year he wasn't going to be a threat to run the ball.

i would bet this was more of wingo than it was petrino. keep in mind we got him here by promising to let him play running back so i would imagine that's a pretty big deal for the kid. but i mean, he doesn't suck but his athletic ability is not being fully used.

why didn't wingo make the switch to WR. He's fast enough, has good hands, and is big and strong. He'd be a good NFL WR if he was hell bent on playing on offense.

He could have easily added some weight and played some type of H-Back/Tight End position

It was Petrino's job to tell hi that his wishes to play offense were detrimental to the team and that he would have no chance of playing RB in the NFL. Should have been honest or taken his own rose-colored glasses off when evaluating Wingo.

I don't think that's very fair to critize petrino of recruiting wingo. he has elite speed and size, the last athlete we took who had elite speed and size who was a pure athlete in high school turned out pretty well..some dude named mcfadden.
at the end of the day the world does not revolve around what we want to happen. if the kid was recruited as a running back and he wants to play running back, and this is what he really wants to do, you or me or anyone else isn't in a position to tell him jack shite. he picked us over quite a few teams including bama who offered him to play defense. if he had any desire whatsoever to play defense he would have not come here. the kid could have literally went to just about any school in the country if he wanted to play defense.
you take what you can get. we took a shot on a top 100 player per rivals and it didn't work out but don't bash the kid and don't bash petrino for taking a chance on him that's idiotic and childish
everyone in the country wanted marshell faulk as a DB. Everyone wanted Tomilson as a wide reciever and he wanted to play running back and went to TCU. OU, tennessee wanted a kid named felix jones to play cornerback, we offered him as a running back. he turned out to be okay. on the other side, folwer for florida state coudl have went anywhere in the country to play defense but FSU told him he could play running back. he's at the bottom of the depth chart. it cuts both ways.

Don't put words in my mouth. You think Wingo, a SENIOR frickING RUNNING BACK WHO HAS GOTTEN HARDLY ANY CARRIES DURING HIS CAREER, thinks he's a great RB with a shot at the NFL? I never said he sucked. I never said ANYTHING about him other than he would have been better served playing defense. So sayeth Saban, so sayeth the Lord.

Go tell that to Jatashun Beachum. Or Mitch Smothers. Or Eric Bennett. Or Tank Wright. Or etc, etc, etc. Players switch positions all of the time at the behest of their coaches. If Wingo didn't like that suggested switch, he could transfer. We gave him his shot at offense, it obviously was a waste of his athletic ability. Should have looked at him elsewhere instead of letting that go to waste so as to not ruffle those unused-undercapitalized feathers.

because they want to switch positions. if they want to, they cna. but if we recruited a guy and told him he can play X, he';s not under any obligation from anyone to change his mind if it's not working out.
and mitch smoohters never switched positions. he never was a tackle.,
neither did Eric Bennett. he was recruited as an athlete, not a WR
Wingo was actually recruited as a Rb. that was the entire pitch to get him here, come be our big bruising Michel Bush clone running back

Not debating that. But it's not up to the players what positions they play. You don't let the chicks rule the roost. Coaches tell them, "Hey Colton Nash, we really need you to play TE this year as we feel it's what's best for the team." Either that player does what's best for the team, or he leaves. Discussion over.
