The misuse of talent on this team is embarrassing

I've never seen a coaching staff refuse for what ever reason to not build a team around it's strengths until this year. The coaches knew KF would struggle in the passing game, but Chiz and Derpler chose live and die by Frazier's arm for most of the season. We have an ALL AMERICAN fullback, and yet we very often run the ball from a single back set. WTF???? Some one please explain that logic to me. We have 2 quality running backs in Mason and Blakeley, but one doesn't play for games at a time because he has fumbled TWICE, and the other one carries the ball less than 10 times a game. We have a 170lb back who we choose to run between the tackles or to the short side of the field, completely negating his speed.. and WTF are we even recruiting receivers if 2 and 3 years into their careers here, they are still an after thought. Does Derpler even know Lutz is on the team????

The talent on this team has not only been poorly developed, but IMO greatly and embarrassingly misused. If you as a head coach and your OC can't find a way to use the offensive talent you have on the roster in a productive, cohesive offense, then you need to look for a new job. This team is being coached like it has no talent, instead of finding ways to maximize all the talent on this team.

Agreed, to an extent. I think Brannigan has a point about poor scouting by Malzahn and co. over the course of the past few years. I think our personnel isn't what it needs to be to run a power set. It looks like we get man-handled in the running game sometimes. Our RB's are certainly way undersized.

When do we ever run a power set though? Prosche is in the game 5 or 6 times tops it appears. Why are we handing off to Mason in the shotgun, when we could be running behind Prosche on toss sweeps and between the tackles? The guy is built to crush lb's, but we would rather him sit on the bench most of the game.

I agree on qb scouting, but there are a lot of skill position players on this team that a lot of teams wanted. We just either never get them the ball or they never see the field once they get here

Can't say I disagree. The talent could be better utilized and Loeffler has proven his incompetence time-and-time again.

I reminds me a lot of 2003. There was tons of talent on the team, but we couldn't take advantage of it. Borges came in in 04 and founds plenty of ways to have Caddie and Ronnie on the field at the same time. We also had 3 or 4 quality wr's that we got plenty of touches to as well. He is a perfect example of an OC maximizing every bit of talent available to him that year.

Agree w/ it all. This staff doesn't make any sense in anything it does anymore. It's a joke.

The Wildcat is pissing me off in this offense. Not only did we never allow our new starting QB to get in a rhythm yesterday, but when you NEVER throw out of it, it's the easiest play on Earth to defend. It's ridiculous that Wallace hasn't attempted a pass yet this year to keep defenses honest. Absolutely ridiculous.

Both Frazier and Moseley suck and the season is shot. What we should do is turn the offense over to Wallace and see what he can do. In all honesty, it probably wouldn't be a whole lot better, but the experience would make all the difference in the world for him. However, Chizik knows he's coaching for his job now, so he's going to try to win at all costs. We're stuck with Frazier and Moseley for the rest of the year, which is a shame.

But the way this whole staff is handling the offense is disgusting.
