My quick SC game summary.....

1. The SC team and fans were obviously fired up for this one; their stadium was rockin'. No doubt our players could feel the pressure building. Not to mention not being able to communicate on the field. The home field advantage @ Columbia is as real as it gets.
2. Rambo's failed INT of a ball he had both hands on set the stage early. Shaw completed a 42 yard pass that should have been intercepted; instead their smaller receiver, Damiere Byrd, (5'9" 168 lbs.) took the ball away from Rambo. This was an early indication that they wanted the win more than we did.
3. Spurrier as usual had a smart gameplan mixing innovative passing with a steady ground game. On the first scoring TD, there wasn't a receiver anywhere near Ellington when he caught the pass. Translation: our defense was completely fooled by an innovative pass play in which Shaw rolled to his right and threw back across field into the opposite corner of the endzone.
4. On our first drive, Murray as is often the case, throws a low pass with no throwing lane that is tipped and intercepted setting up SC in good field position for their next score. The net effect? A complete turn around in the game in which we failed to intercept stopping their first drive and we throw an INT leading to another SC score; basically a 14 point swing.
5. UGA has their first of many 3 and outs punts and then Ace Sanders returns the punt 70 yards for SC's 3rd TD. That was pretty much the ball game at that point.
6. Exchange of punts and then UGA had their only drive of the 1st half down to the SC 2 yard line. We go for it on 4th down and Murray throws a 1 yard pass to Wooten who is stopped on the 1 yard line. This was pretty much the final blow. They score 3 quick TD's and then we fail to capitalize on a long hard fought drive.
7. In the 3rd quarter, we gone one first down on our 1st drive and an exchange of punts ensued. The Shaw hits D.L. Moore up the middle on a 62 yard pass down to our 1 yard line in which our secondary was out of position once again. They score on the next play; 28 to zip.
They got another score and we finally got a garbage score at the end but that was that. Bottom line: we got owned in every aspect of the game. We were beat in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They had an innovative offensive game-plan and we didn't. They executed efficiently and we didn't. Their defense dominated our offense. They got the only TO in the game which was important in giving them the momentum early and for the rest of the game.

Turning point of the game, IMO. When your all-american safety either doesn't want it enough or has the bad luck enough to let it go the receiver, then you just know we're fricked.

Yea, a play like that just makes you scratch your head. I could understand if it was a big tall TE but damn how do you get both hands on the ball and not at least break up the pass. sheesh

what the frick is wooten doing running that route and not ending up in the endzone? im sure there is some reasoning or some shite but that seems dumb as frick to me.

Yea it worked against Vandy so I guess they thought they could do it again. Wooten is not a big guy and there was no way he was going through that wall of defenders. Pass should have gone to a TE or hell if they had run the ball every down from the 2, I'm pretty sure they could have gotten in. We had a 1st down on their 4 yard line and got down to the 2. I mean if you already know you're going to go for it on 4th down you may as well run the ball 2 more times and hope for the best. They were playing our receivers so tight, there was no way we were going to complete a pass in the endzone.
