Let me start my comments off with saying Gene Chizik is a man of integrity and principles. I also am grateful for the good he has brought Auburn, and he will always have my respect for bringing a championship here.
My pride sometimes hinders the reality that may be looking me in the face. It is apparent that we either are recruiting overrated players, and they really are less talented. Or we have coaches that cannot coach them up to their potential. I believe it is some of both. Despite the deficiencies of individual coaches. The article is correct in saying it is all at the feet of Chizik.
Let's face it, we have a proud history and what we are seeing on the field is not Auburn football. I knew we would struggle, but I was looking for at least improvement. I was looking for tenacity and toughness. I expected to lose some games, but I wanted the other team to know they had been lucky to get the win, and their respect for Auburn football was high.
I am not ready to say give it up Chizik, but I am saying I will not stand up against criticism on his behalf. I will not enter into the fray to disagree with those that have lost faith in him. I will say prove you still should be the man to lead this program in the future. I love being a part of Auburn, and I will fully support these players, but the reality is there is cause for concern. I hope we can get it corrected one way or the other.
Sorry so long.
Sincerely,
Conflicted Tiger from the Rocky Mountains.

Wow......
Hard to argue with any of that.

Hard to disagree with anything he wrote. We are in deep poo this season if changes on offense are not done this week.I love Auburn and will always support Auburn but Chizik needs to take off the 2010 BCS shirts at practice and leave it in the past and move forward. It reminds me of Petrino and the Sugar Bowl hat and Nutt with the Cotton Bowl trips.

I thought the same thing. He's wearing the shite out of that BCS championship gear. Needs to quit

I am glad I'm not alone I thought I would catch grief for it.

It's funny we as Auburn fans bag on Saban, but the man is a damn good coach. He hates to live on past results. He won't allow his team to think they are too good and insists they focus on their roles for the season at hand. Hate him or love him Saban is the best coach in college football today.
Duck Rocky, duck.

yeah...he is an a-hole and I don't like him as a person, but I do like winning over a nice coach.

Saban delivers results plain and simple.I can not stand him, but he is not paid to win personality contest.

I'll say it. I wish we had half the coach that Saban is at Bama.

We should all agree with that. Saban is the best in college.

How did you say that with the vomit in your mouth?

Move the frick on. I have no problem with him boasting the national title. Heck, I hope he has a man cave in his Auburn mansion full of framed jerseys, frames photos, newspaper clips, videos, wallpaper, etcs., dedicated to the national title. And if he wants to wear the stuff in the presence of recruits, that's fine. But wearing this stuff during practice and during team meetings just screams complacency.
I don't agree with everything Saban does -- or says, specifically -- but this is a big part of what makes him a great coach and a great teacher. The past is the past, and it has nothing to do with the present. Move on.

I agree with this article. I don't know that Auburn will ever truly succeed long term with Chizik. One thing has stuck in my craw since Chizik has been here, and it's what Paul Rhoades said when he got to Iowa State, he said he had to teach those kids to tackle all over again. Maybe having BVG can help that but I think the problem is Chizik, I've wanted to just pin it all on Roof and just ignore that but it's always stuck in the back of my mind. I think that's a problem in how you coach your players.
I hate to say it but I wouldn't mind having a coach like Saban at all. He has those kids disciplined and willing to do whatever he tells them to on that football field. He is in control and it works. It's just honest to goodness fundamentals football, nothing fancy.
I think he owes it to us after having his recruits on the field for this long to field a team that does better than what we saw yesterday. Oh and how the frick did he let Barrett Trotter leave? I can't believe I'm wishing we had him this year but we'd have been better off.

Something I have noticed last year and even this year is a lot of players keep saying in interviews that they are young and will get better. I think Chizik as said it so much that the players have all started thinking that they will just suddenly all become better someday. So they don't have to try as hard to make themselves better and are just kind of waiting on everything to just start clicking.
At some point they have to be told they are not as good as they should be with the amount of time they have had.
The part about the play calling and not giving KF some safe throws to build him up is something I was talking about during the game. CSL didn't start really giving him enough of those type plays until the very end to Bray when it was way too late. Maybe he will have the good sense to make that a big part of the game plan this week.
