I know that. Just saying that they seem to recruit our state pretty hard.

Justin Coleman was at Coleman today. Apart from the terrible turn out, it was a great game for him to see.

USC coach was fired today. Maybe we can make another run at Kendal Harris if he decides to go elsewhere.
@JoshPaunilNRS: "2013 USC signee PG Kendal Yancy-Harris says he'll talk with his family tonight on whether he'll re-open his recruitment & who he's consider."

We didn't make his final 5 did we?

I can't really remember, but I'm not sure if he ever cut down on his list before his commitment. If he did I just don't remember him doing so. Either way, I think the cooling was from our side due to the fact things were going really well with Barber and they were both expected early signees and Powell was telling people he'd sign late so we shifted toward him as more of our plan B. That's just my guess.

Just saw an article that said he chose USC over Missouri, Oklahoma State, LSU and Creighton though.
Either way we got some time to get him interested again...I hope. I'm looking for any good news I can find.

@Justinbyerly: "Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia Tech and Miami (FL) are showing the most interest in 6'1, 2014 PG Kedrick Flomo of North Forsyth HS (NC)."
Hopefully he is a plan B...

One of the top players in the South is Springfield (Ga.) Effingham County forward Jakeenan Gant. The athletic combo forward had an excellent summer with the Southern Stampede, and now a trio of schools are really making him a priority recruit.
With his skill, size, and athleticism, upside is the key word with Gant. Right now at about 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds, Gant is more of a power forward, but he is working hard to find a home on the wing.
“I have been working on my dribbling,” said Gant. “I am trying to be more like a wing player. I really want to be a three.”
Recruiting wise Gant says that Florida State, Alabama, and Georgia Tech are the three schools really in the mix with him.
When it comes to the Yellow Jackets, distance is definitely something working in their favor.
“It is cool that they are close to home, and their coaches are recruiting me real hard,” said Gant of Georgia Tech.
One of the schools that has been after Gant the longest is Alabama, and the Crimson Tide are working hard in this recruiting battle.
“I love the coaches,” Gant explained. “Coach (John) Brannen is real funny. I haven’t been on campus yet though.”
Also Florida State has been a steady presence and is working to get Gant in the fold.
“I like Florida State,” explained Gant. “They have a good team and I like their coaches a lot.”
At the moment Gant has no timeframe for making a decision, but he does hope to make some visits during the summer. For now though, Gant is just looking for a place where he would be a good fit.
“I just look for an up tempo team and somewhere where I can fit in,” Gant explained.
Gant is currently seen as the No. 38 prospect overall and the No. 9 power forward.

I think that is the first time I have seen a recruit single out one of our assistants. Atta boy Brannen.

Gant looks like a slightly more coordinated Pollard in his highlights.

Whenever an assistant does get mentioned, it's Brannen.

Both Hale and Taylor were nominated to be voted on for the McDonald's game. Then again, like a million kids are nominated so I don't know how much of an honor it is.

I dont think we need to be visiting any other PGs besides Colemon. We need to press the hell out of him.
Posted on 1/18/13 at 8:30 am to Tide or Die87
That is a terrible idea. We have to sign a PG next year, you can't go all in on one guy. Making him the priority is fine but there have to be backup options.

You have to have backup options. Right now we don't have a PG after Releford leaves as it seems Retin might be more of a SG as of right now.
As for Coleman, it looks to me as if we are leading. He's been watching our games recently, and even logged on to ESPN3 to watch the final 12 minutes of the blowout the other day.
