Mullen has whiffed on more QBs than he has signed in his short tenure at State. Solid pick ups have been Dak Prescott and Tyler Russell. Mullen has had to settle for Dylan Favre (no longer on team) and Nick Schuessler.

I dont get the whining about our QB recruiting?

Remind me of the last time we had 2 QB's on campus at the same time like Russell and Prescott? These 2 guys will be our starting QB's for the next FOUR years

Do we need to get another good guy signed? Absolutely. But it's a pretty damn hard sell to get a highly-rated guy to come to State and sit awhile right now

Coonass, you ALWAYS recruit for the future.

We HAVE to sign a top quality QB in this class either Sandberg or Staver.

No offense, but I haven't seen either guy do anything to say their job can't be taken. Tyler Russell is turnover prone and has never had a season where he's completed over 60% of his passes (not to mention, what happened to Florida when they didn't have a dual threat quarterback). Dak Prescott has never even seen a live snap in a real game to my knowledge.

True but to be fair, he hasn't started a season as the true #1. He only started a few games last year, and the offense was tailored more toward a running qb last year. This year he is the guy when the season starts and there will be a lot more passing. Russell will either prove himself or not prove himself this season. He hasn't really had the best opportunity yet, and he still has two seasons to go.

Look who he started against?

He's much better now than he was as a Freshman vs LSU at Tiger Stadium and at Bama. He did good vs South Carolina, Kentucky, and UAB last year in the games he started.

I'm not saying he won't be better, I'm sure he will once he gets full control of the offense. All I'm saying is he hasn't done anything to say State is good enough now to not recruit another QB

I wasn't whining. And me giving Merlins credit for Russell is a stretch. The only one he has seen a whole recruiting process with, is Dak.

of course you do- but QB is harder to recruit than any other- because only 1 of those guys gets to play unless there is an injury.

We are not going to sign a QB unless we get the one we really want- especially after getting a better than average walk-on

We WILL SIGN a QB in this class. It will be one of these three.
Cord Sandberg
Josh Dobbs
Max Staver.

If we miss on all 3 of those kids I'll be SHOCKED

I'm hearing the board looks like this

1. Sandberg ( he needs to visit ASAP)
2. Dobbs (wowed coaches yesterday)
3. Staver (big time arm and NFL size but needs work on mechanics)

I'd be happy with any of the 3, but my personal favorite is Sandberg.

I have a feeling that Dobbs is gonna end up being the best qb of that group.

Sandberg is 1st choice but they do like Staver's arm...Dobbs has opened some eyes as well now

I prefer Sandberg because he is mobile- and also why he is #1 on the board for us. I wonder if Cohen is involved in this recruitment?

I doubt it. Cohen doesn't seem to care much for two sport athletes.

Well we better get one we want, because if we don't that will be several years that Merlins has struck out on QB recruiting.

Year 1- Russell already committed, but he gets a little credit for keeping him here.

Year 2- Settles for Favre. About our 6th choice.

Year 3- Gets Dak, one our top choices.

Year 4- Settles for Nkemdiche's step brother. About our 10th choice.

LULZ

Our QB recruiting last year was a disaster but I kind of think we wouldn't have signed anybody if Favre wouldn't have quit.

When Mullen came in, I believe he said that he wanted to sign a QB every year.

he also said we werent a redshirt program- and would play Freshmen- but in actuality, we are a definite redshirt program.

Bundy is right- if Farvuh stays, we wouldnt have even signed a QB in this last class
