I wish we (Mississippi State) offered more kids than we do. Even if we don't get them the fact we offer them and get our name out could help if another prospect comes out of that same HS.

Yeah. I cant remember what the kids name was but I do know Auburn led for him. Freeze asked him what OM needed to do to catch Auburn and he said, "give me a lot of attention". When he got home from Oxford he had over 100 letters from Freeze

Offering as many top recruits as he can increases his chances of landing some of the top talent. Obviously he won't land all of these "targets" but it helps future recruiting by becoming a common name with top prospects in some of the top areas for talent across the country.

not to mention if we're in good with a ton of recruits, when it gets close to signing day and some of the recruits we were expecting don't work out we'll hopefully have good back up plans instead of scrambling to sign some 2* players

He's doing for the exact reason Kiffin and Orgeron did it at Tennessee, attention. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't.
Les lost to OM with Orgeron's recruits. Don't buy into anything else. Orgeron is a top 3 recruiter in the country and he is responsible for those OM squads and the talent on them. Freeze deserves some credit as well but just because he was recruiting coordinator doesn't mean much. That title is only an administrative thing and mostly entails paperwork and arranging visits and such. Doesn't necessarily mean it's the best recruiter on the staff. Most are these days to be honest because of the extra contact ability though it's not meant to be that way. One of those bendable rules.
Only Texas can get by with less than 50 or so offers. Most schools end up in the 100's in offers though most are not commitable. It kind of devalues the official offer but it's part of the game now. The kids will know in August who has a real offer and who doesn't when the written offers are allowed to be sent.

That number has really decreased. We picked two late signees in Sandifer and that other CB. We're also close to getting Berglund(sp). I think the original number was 32 before those three and maybe before we gave mikhail a scholly. So it will be more like 28-29. Which means we will sign 3-4 juco's at least. We already have two in Combs and Q, and are doing well with Q's teammate Leslie

I doubt OM depth chart scares him more than LSU's. We are in good position for him.
