Conference rival?

So I was just thinking about the whole Nu BCS Playoff that is coming and how the PAC and B1G are trying to keep their little friendly Rose Bowl rivalry, and I was wondering. What conference is considered the SEC's rival? It seems other than the championship game we don't have clear tie in with the Sugar Bowl (I know it's not set up that way) and another conference.

Well I know that but I guess what conference do you enjoy beating more?

ACC is probably the closest thing, but I wouldn't really call them a rival conference. 3 of the East schools have rivalries with ACC members. GT is a former SEC member. Shared recruiting grounds etc.

Big 10. And we're the conference they most want to beat, not the Pac 10. Their penis envy is clear.

I was talking to a friend about how it would be fun to set up a series with the SEC and ACC where they rank the teams 1-14 from each conference based on the previous years performance and #1 from SEC play #1 from ACC. Just as sort of SEC/ACC challenge. It would be fun even though the SEC would obviously dominate.

don't have one really
obviously there are the uga/ga tech, usc/clemson, florida/fsu games... as well as the big 10 and big 12 bowl pairings
but there's not really a single conference that the SEC is really associated with... unless you mean the sunbelt for the regular rent-a-win games

We play the ACC the most, but we hate the Big Ten more and the Big Ten hates us much more than the Pac 12.
The Big Ten/SEC rivalry is very similar to the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry. The Big Ten thumbs their noses at the SEC claiming some mythical academic, cultural, and ethical superiority over the SEC while the SEC kicks their asses and takes names.

I think that would be a great idea, except I say put in provisions to maintain the traditional rivals of UGA/GT, USC/Clemson, and UF/FSU.
I say the ACC is closest thing to our conference rival. 3 states have schools from conferences, and we prolly battle with them more for recruits, with the Big 12 being a close 2nd.

I guess with the conference readjustments of this year you could argue the Big 12/SEC rivalries equal the number of ACC/SEC rivalries
A&M/Texas
MU/Kansas
Arky/Texas
USC/Clemson
UGA/Ga Tech
Fla/FSU
Its not a completely convincing case because Arkansas is more of a one way rivalry than the rest of them - but the argument can now be made

Big 10 as far as hatred for each other

I don't see how anyone could not say the ACC.
Not only are they closest and share states with the SEC, but 3 SEC schools have their biggest rivalry with the ACC; UGA/GT, UF/FSU, and SC/CU.
Why would it be anyone else, because LSU and USC argue over 2003? Because Ohio State has an inferiority complex with the SEC? So what?

Arky/TX would be good to see, but do you really think it will happen. As for the others, they won't happen any time soon. Mizzou and A&M want to keep those games going but KU and TX won't play them. I even loved where Bill Self said there just wasn't the space to play Mizzou out of conference. What a joke. You play at least a dozen OOC games in basketball
