Not to mention having Davis and Lattimore back will aid Wilson and Shaw.

Exactly.

He does have a good completion % , but that is due to screen passes and dump off passes.

There is only one problem with that assessment. McCarron has a trophy on his wall that says BCSCG MVP. An average QB does not win that trophy. By definition MVP =/= average.

Well, we do, but we still have to go through the tediousness of letting men think they are ruling it. Like... all of these hours of discussing who's going to be the best QB, when we won't actually know until we see them all play.
Why not just wait and find out?

and Troy Smith has a heisman

Uh gMac has a BCS trophy. He was avg. you could put JJ on your team last year and Bama wins the title. AJ was decent last year but he was nothing spectacular. He played well on jan.9th, with a month to prepare. H played horrible on nov. 5th and that's why Bama lost. Not because of career long fgs that nfl kickers only make 54% of the time. A 45 yard fg isn't a gimme to an nfl kicker but Bama fans think they are automatic with a kicker who was a walkon

2002 Craig Krenzel: 2,040 yards 15TD 10INT
Woah! Krenzel must be amazing though.

Every off season. Never fails. I'm sure we'll discuss this same topic at least two more times before fall practice.

that average qb's win awards when the team around them is very talented.

It seems like that stats seem to take the good or bad decisions of a QB out of play to some extent. McCarron was really good about avoiding bad mistakes. You have no idea whether Mettenberger has that quality. His ability to complete passes may make up for his impulsiveness or immaturity, but you have no idea. So you have to define whether it's pure athletic talent and ability, completions, game management, leadership, or whatever that are your criteria for who is going to be the best opposing QB before you make the list.
