Being in the state of Texas and being the only school that can say they play in the SEC is a big advantage. Obviously, you interpreted my post to be that Missouri won't benefit from being in the SEC. They will, but A&M's circumstances are much more lucrative and have the highest potential.

But, of course, you fall into a state of sarcasm and smartassesry. Haha, I chuckled and I applaud you.

i personally think the georgia front 7 vs the Mizzouri OL and RB corp is a more important match up than our secondary vs your receivers. if y'all can't block the guys up front out depleted secondary will handle just fine and if mizzou contains the rush then it may be an issue. i just can't see the front 7 not making head way

I agree the single biggest issue for Mizzou will be can their D-Line and O-Line handle the much better lines they will see in the SEC. 1st team ability is not bad at all on either but depth is a huge issue on the lines. I think on a neutral field that Dawgs would be an easy favorite. Considering the conditions though, 1st SEC game, home game for Mizzou and suspensions galore the Tigers/Dawgs are a toss up.

It interests me how many folks in the national media think that the Aggies are going to be a force in the SEC immediately, and Missouri is going to get killed.

I haven't heard many media types say A&M will be an immediate force in the SEC. And remember - they're not reporting news, they're providing opinion. If they're opinions weren't somewhat controversial, and designed for people to either strongly agree or disagree with, no one would read it. Then they wouldn't have a job. They write things designed to get a response. Sort of like trolling.

A&M has better resources than Mizzou in terms of money, facilities, etc. So do Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and other schools that we'll face every year. Hopefully over time that'll change. I can see why some would think they have better potential to compete right away than us. But potential doesn't mean crap if you don't put it together on the field.

Neither team is that good. What has Missouri done in the past decade? Win the Cotton Bowl in 2007? No BCS Bowls, no conference titles, nothing. A bunch of mediocre 8-9 win seasons and middle tier bowl games.

A&M has a worse resume in the same time frame and some embarrasing losses(i.e. Arkansas State in 2008).

Neither team will be relevant in the SEC for the next couple of years at least.

Missouri was 12-2 and 4th in final Poll after 2007 season, including #1 ranking in BCS going into the Big 12 Championship game, that is something. Sure compared to national championships at LSU, Bama, Auburn and Flordia that is not much but it far from nothing. As for just 8-9 win seasons again you are wrong, 2007 12-2, 2008 10-4 and 2010 10-4.

Missouri has a decided advantage thanks to a coaching change at A&M often when head coaches take over things get worse before they get better.
Compound that with a schedule in the West and you can conclude Kevin Sumlin will suffer in year one

Listen, I like A&M, I always cheered for you guys in the Big 12 (except against us). However, you are going to be Texas' little brother for the foreseeable future. Until that changes, A&M has a ceiling, just like Mizzou.

I think Mizzou and A&M both have a great deal of potential. No doubt Mizzou has had our number recently, but pretty much everyone has. There are cycles and we were extremely successful against Mizzou in the 90's (when we also happened to be really good). I see the Mizzou game this year (along with MS State and Florida) as one of the games that will define our season. I expect it to be another good one.

I hope Mizzou does well from the beginning (except against us) to represent for the newcomers in general.

Absolutely agree. Everything goes in cycles. This year should be another good game - I'm concerned about it honestly, it'll be tough to beat you at home 3 times in a row. We need to play this game in Columbia soon!

Both teams will struggle early on, with Mizzou having an "easier" go in the east. Both won't sniff the top tier just yet, but I do think both will have some shocking wins that they "should" lose next year. I'm going to be pleased with 7 wins.

Missouri has been a very good football team over the last decade however that claim will fall on deaf ears on this section of this web site where few look at football beyond their backyard

Everyone always says A&M fans expect to win the SEC next year, and how annoying we are because we think we're so good. I don't get it. Never seen anyone predict that, including anyone on this board

Potential is something we definitely have. But until that translates into wins, it means nothing. We won't be a bottom feeder forever, and I think we rise up quicker than Arkansas did, but by no means will it be immediate.

A&M won 94 games in the 90's.

Off the top of my head, thats fewer than Nebraska, FSU, Florida & Tennessee. What else are you lying about here?

Myopic. Painfully, so.

We're bigger, have more money, more fans, better facilities, better game day experience, and better tradition. None of these realities are up for dispute.

However, we also had Franchione and Sherman (hence your conveniently noted sample-record).

We'll always recruit better and our inherent advantages will always be present. These are obvious, reasonable explanations for why we believe we'll be successful (also reasons why two of your commitments switched to us despite not receiving offers until very late in the game).

A&M's impediment to success has been our incompetent decision-makers. Decisions regarding coaching, to be exact.

We're quite cognizant of the last decade. Fortunately -- for purposes of this discussion -- it was our second worst in the history of our program.

Congrats on the last six years, though. FWIW, I think y'all can stay reasonably successful until UT returns to its normal state.
