Arkansas Fans References To National Title Hopes in 2012

I have read on this board and other message board continuous references to blaming the AD for crushing Arkansas national title hopes for this season. I'm having a hard time understanding if this is just venting or people actually believed Arkansas had a legitimate shot at winning the national championship this upcoming season.
I'm having a hard time understanding this shared belief.
LSU and Bama out class Arkansas this upcoming season with or without Petrino.
To me and anyone else thinking rationally, blaming the AD for "crushing national title hopes" is a ridiculous criticism all things considered. Especially when he had to fire this guy.

We heard the same stupidity last offseason. Not really surprising.

CSB
FWIW, the only people really furious with JL reside on Hogville.net. The majority of Hog fans understand the decision.

You are right. There have been a few here repeating those same sentiments though.
Hogville is full on tard.

We finished ranked 5th in the nation last year, had increased our win total for 4 straight seasons, returned 22 players with starting experience, and get LSU and Bama at home. How anyone can say Arky didn't have legitimate NC hopes is beyond me.

You are right. Arkansas does have a legit chance. Arky has a shot at taking down Bama but LSU wont even be a contest.

because the two teams that are in your same division CRUSHED you last year by a combined 48 points. To put that into perspective, Nick Saban lost 6 games his first year. All those losses combined were less than arky's two losses last year.

Because you aren't nearly as talented, especially defensively, as two other teams in your own division, much less conference.

We were horrible on D in 2010, yet we still won against one of these teams

And that has exactly what to do with this upcoming season?

y'all need to work on your priorities. Try finishing #1 in the West first. Then, try winning an SEC Title. Then, you can worry about a NC.
Or, you can cry to the media and try to go the Bama route.

and what does last year have to do with this season? Its a game you act like the "best" team always wins

Umm, nothing. I never referenced last year. I said you're not as talented, as in, present tense.

Well, it's one thing for you to reference a fluke win from 2010 because our secondary liked to tackle each other. It's another to sweep two 24 point losses each to your divisional foes under the rug and act like that's not indicative of a talent gap.

generally that holds true
baseball and basketball are a different story

Under Petrino you never won your division. Since being in the SEC you haven't won the conference. You tied for second one time during BP's tenure. You have one BCS appearence during that tenure where you lost. Those 22 returners were beat by 24 points by the teams that finished ahead of them in the division. Arkansas loses much of its production in the receiving corps which is a huge part of their offense.
I don't see much of an issue with those that believe Arkansas winning a NC next year is a pipe dream.
