I know. I'm just thinking out loud. And curious because nobody has every proved it and I would think this would be something that we could find.

It would be a pretty hard thing to prove I think considering TCU is a private school and it's probably only a couple very big boosters that know anything concrete about it. TCU is not Alabama, Ohio State or even A&M-their group of donors and big money guys is much smaller.

Also if the rumor of it being from one family is true, it would be even easier to contain the real info about it. I have a few friends in the oil industry though and they have all said it's a pretty popular topic whenever college football comes up.

I wish Arkansas the best. The AD did the right thing now he gets to earn his money even more. Now that Ark has gotten back up near the top, they need to hire someone who will keep them there. The SEC is no place to hire someone who will push back a program for several years if they can't recruit. LSU is in same position with basketball coach, let's see if our AD earns his money now.Good luck

My god honest guess is Tuberville. Has SEC experience and seems to be sending signals that he wants out of Tech (they all do eventually).

I do not know what is up with Patterson but I do know you can go look back to when we hired Sherman he stated that the only job he would consider leaving TCU for was A&M, after that he has spurned ever offer thrown at him. I feel he is well enough compensated to stay where he is until TCU realizes that the Big XII is not Mountain West competition and he fails to provided a 9 win season for several years in a row. TCU has never "recruited well" they get left over 3*s from east Texas and coach them very well against subpar talent. They will not recruit any better in the Big XII than Tech does.

- Patterson wasn't interested in coming to A&M last year, but given the recent drug scandal, who knows if he wants out now.

- Environment and scenery is important to Leach, imo. Especially after living in Lubbock. He was willing to bide his time coaching a high school in Florida til something opened up.

- Tubbs is failing miserably at Tech, and didn't realize what kind of built in disadvantages Tech had when he walked in to that mess. He is the most realistic of those three.

If it is TCU/Fort Worth, I'd bet the Bass Family, not the Kleberg family (King Ranch).

I wish Arkansas would hire Art Briles.

I wonder if Arkansas' recent success will enable them to get a big national guy. Charlie Strong seems like the best realistic hire for them - Patterson isn't leaving TCU for Arkansas. I could really only see him going to a school like Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Bama, LSU, etc.

Malzahn wouldn't be bad either, as much as it would suck for AK State

Why would Patterson not leave TCU for Arkansas? Are you implying TCU's a superior program?

I'm not sure how I feel about your suggestion here. If you really want to win, you wouldn't be clamoring for a great coach. You'd be wishing we'd hire a disaster. The fact that you want Arkansas to hire him makes me think he's not in our best interests.

Briles defenses are MUCH worse than BP's. His coaching works somewhat in the Big 12. (as long as he has an RGIII). IDGAF what any bandwagon Baylor fans say. RG made that Baylor team what it was. Not Briles.

He would be a HUGE fail imo. It's not like Arkansas is extremely easy to recruit to.

Patterson hasn't left TCU for better programs than Arkansas in the past. He was one of the guys who was considered for jobs like Florida, Ohio State, USC, etc. Arkansas is not a top-tier job like those.

1) Pay - TCU is private and his exact contract is not public (doesn't have to be) therefore Arkansas is at a distinct disadvantage in trying to entice him away because they do not know his going rate. That and TCU can always just pay him more.

2) Established - Patterson, not Fran built that program, that is obvious now. Without a combination of Patterson and LT Fran would never have been looked at by Bama and A&M.

3) Pride - See #2 he built that program he is proud of it

4) New Horizons - He gets to lead the program into a new conference against some of the schools biggest historical rivals from the SWC days.

5) Timing - Who wants to take over now so far into Spring (or who wants to be the dick to put their current team in a bad position of finding a coach now) OR if they wait who wants to have to come in and take over after an interim staff and lose all the recruiting momentum you could build throughout the year

6) Location - Arkansas is in ... well ... Arkansas. TCU isn't.
