I kinda agree too... i like the idea of the concert and the marketing of our school, but wish they would have picked a different band.

This idea isnt the best to get young alumni 23-35 to come to the spring game.

You'd think MSU would pay some advertising/marketing firm a couple grand to come up with a better name.

I agree. They are trying to get more younger people to come that aren't in college yet, people that would want to go to the concert who otherwise wouldn't visit MSU and hoping that some of those people would enjoy it and maybe want to go to school here, and televise it to gain interest of out of state people who aren't MSU fans, It's a marketing ploy to increase our image and student enrollment.

I know they have sold over 10,000 tickets already

I don't see many ways that putting MSU football second to frigging Sugarland is a good thing for you in the long run.

i don't see the big deal of a concert going along with a scrimmage. i'm also not retarded either.

It isn't being put "2nd". The concert is just an added bonus for after the game. It's marketing to up the "prestige" of the game.

Kind of like this... People who aren't Bama fans will watch the Bama spring game because it's Bama.

Those same people won't watch the MSU game because it's MSU. But with a televised concert of a popular band, some of those people might watch it. It gets us exposure, and therefore some people will see our game when before they wouldn't have.

And it attracts people to our spring game who aren't' hardcore MSU fans, and brings in more money. It's all about exposure and money.

BS. The game was free. Now it is $25 to attend. The field was 100 yards. Now it is 60. How do you figure that the football game is being put first?

To be fair Sugarland wasn't their first choice, but Justin Beiber was busy.

So they're having a glorified outdoor Arena League Spring Game, followed by a concert featuring Sugarland.

I could understand if it was somebody worth a damn, but Sugarland doesn't warrant this kind of attention.

Yet it'll still be packed because it's free, and people will go because of that.

I thought the big issue is that they are making non-Sugarland fans pay $25 to watch spring football on a 60-yard field.
