How do you feel about the direction of the program? Why does Chizik receive most of the credit for last years natty yet take none of the blame for this years shite show?

not sure how long you've been on this message board but everyone outside of Auburn fans have said that Chizik was a one hit wonder who got lucky with Cam.

Auburn fans think differently though.

I wouldn't call it a shite show by any means, Tom Luginbill actually said he did a great coaching job today on JOX. You're going to have an average season when you lose as many seniors as you did last year and have no seniors behind them.

He has exceeded expectations in all three years he's been here.

An average season is what I expected. I didn't see much improvement in the team as a whole. We dropped the ball with the QB and O line situation and will possibly start two frosh and two sophomores on the o line next year.

Not hard to exceed expectations when there aren't any.

If 8-5 is exceeding expectations then I want him there forever.

I don't think he'll lose 30 seniors every year and have shite tubs recruits to replace them with every year.

No need to blame Tubs, all of the o-line outside of greene are Chizik guys.(This excludes Cooper who was injured, and also our best lineman.)The dline, lbs, and secondary outside of Thorpe and bell were also Chizik recruits. I realize these guys are young, but I am concerned about seeing guys make the same mistakes over and over again.

I'm very happy with the direction of the program. This staff was put together primarily to recruit, and they will soon have their third straight top 5 class.

With a couple of changes I think we can make a significant upgrade in on the field coaching.

I expect a 9-3 type season in 2012, then better in 2013. The tough part is being in the SEC west where 10-2 can be 4th place, depending on who you lose to.

I can't even remember how many times on here people said something along the lines of "Auburn will be lucky to get 5 wins this season".

He came in and made a 5-7 team go 8-5. Then made that 8-5 team go 14-0. We lost something like 30 players off of last year's roster due to the bulge of seniors that left.

If he had gone 9-3 or better this regular season, then that would have shattered expectations. We could be really cocky S.O.B.'s right now. But he did just about what we expected him to, if not a little better.

Just because other teams are in trash-talk mode and we've gotten killed by some very good teams doesn't mean we should forget how low expectations were this year.

Once our roster is normally distributed with top 10 recruiting classes, then I think we should be expecting 10 win seasons.

It was amazing that we won a NC in year 2 of the Chizik staff, and it took a lot of senior players being on the roster to do it. We're feeling their losses now.

That said, we gotta do something about defense. Everything else is just trash talk.

Tubs is not to blame, he had a lot to do with getting the players that won our title. However, the normal life cycle after coaching change attrition reared its ugly head this year, because it was the young guys that came in right when Tubs was ousted that are underperforming/leaving the team.

We will go to Fayetteville and Baton Rouge in 2013. Not sure of the other road games, but based on recent history, odd years are not kind to Auburn. I feel like we missed a chance to develop some chemistry on the o-line by not playing westerman and robinson.

I think the year went the way I had thought. I had hoped to be more competitive in the losses, but the O Line was far worse then expected. I think the Dline was too soft and think that falls on Pelton and possibly the scheme. Overall our D looked really bad in the losses and that bothers me. Our lack of depth at WR was a little surprising. Every coach on that team is responsible and none more so then HC Gene Chizik.
I think QB play would have been better had they had more protection in the pocket.

With that said what do people want to happen to him? He has earned the right to continue to build the team and sounds like he is assessing his coaching staff. I still feel like Chizik can keep it going in the positive direction and deserves at the least 2-3 years as long as real progress is seen. I am not as high on where we will be at in 2012 as I once was and feel 2013 if we are not competing for the SEC Championship then something is wrong. Time will tell, but Gene Chizik has my full support as of now.

This is not abnormal for any senior class that came in immediately before/after a coaching change.
