41% of the tv viewership in Atlanta are college football fans. Second only to NYC in terms of pure number of overall fans. A great deal of those are UGA grads or tied to the school already. Adding GT, which UGA plays them every year already, would cannibalize some of what the SEC has and not really amount to a great deal for the net gain.

They are more a basketball school, so the ACC works better for them. Football, they are good about once every 20 years for a year or two before returning to average or below.

GT could play more SEC schools in its open weeks, but they don't. There's a reason. They just would not hold up. Who runs the triple option in the SEC and lives?

Sure they look sound, at times, against UNC and NCSt or Wake Forest, but those are not FL, UT, Auburn, AL, LSU, or even UGA (careful I don't get bit/jinxed saying that this year.)
